Getting philosophical. For progress to be made, someone must make a hard evaluation of themself. In the case of a team like the Titans, I don’t have to remind anyone of how long a drought there was from the end of the ‘08 season until Mike Mularkey turned things around (a coaching decision made by the owner). This is not to necessarily start another argument on our current coaching situation. Only to offer that, as bad as the Titans were for so long, the Mularkey Way had more than enough success to warrant a return to finish out his contract. For a team that had struggled to win for so long, to prematurely jettison the man steering them in the right way is a bad omen for the future and unravels progress made. And for Jon Robinson to announce Mularkey’s successor would be a “Leader of Men” was a huge insult to the man who stood by his players and got things turned around here. Again, this doesn’t appear to me to be a step towards progress but the opposite. Maybe these last 5 games will show me something different.

Was it JR who labeled Vrabel a "leader of men" or was that someone outside the organization? We have heard that expression from a lot of people since Vrabel came in.

I’m fairly positive Robinson said that right after Mularkey was fired.

Moving on from Mularkey was the right move and I'll never be convinced otherwise.

The current staff being the right direction... sadly, that may take a season or 2 to know for sure.

disagree. stats to back me up are back to back 9-7 seasons and a playoff win. also an identity for this team as a smashmouth, ground and pound, wear you out, hard nosed, grind it out team.

What if I were to tell you we're averaging 3 less points a game than in 2017

I thought it was a good idea to move on from Mularkey when we canned him, but we were 7-4 this same time last year and averaging 20 points a game..

Now we're at 5-6 and playoffs are looking slim.

we got rid of mularkey not because he was bad, but because he reached his ceiling. Vrabels floor is probably lower but his ceiling is higher.

Who determines what a ceiling is? Just keeping it philosophical, lol. A coach and staff who got things heading in a playoff-winning way, over 2 seasons. Apparently, he was the problem. And a judgement on the current Titans structure isn’t allowable until the end of NEXT season, lol.

Does Delanie Walker account for 3 points per game? Probably.
