What's wrong with Conklin

You're a fool if you don't believe the GM that handed $61,000,000 guaranteed to Malcolm Butler has no say in his benching or not. Vrabel sounded like an idiot when PK asked him if he was thinking of benching him for Sims.

 

Move Conklin inside and start Kelly. Probably easier said then done but worth thinking about.

 

Scheme change, less help and injury. What’s not to understand?

 

I honestly think the zone blocking scheme is not a good fit for any of our lineman.

It’s remindjng me of the David Carr days of the Texans...... also a Zone blocking scheme.

 

FWIW since most NFL lines aren't built like the Dallas Cowboys most teams are forced into a zone blocking scheme. So thats why most coaches adopt it as their way of playing.

If we want to go back to man blocking its going to take some rebuilding the line. Kline and Jones will have to go.

It also really helps having a great RB like Murray to clean up any leakage. We're really missing Murrays pass protection right ow.

 

The thing is that can't run against ANYONE. You'd think that we could have a good game just once, if by accident. In two years , we've had maybe one or two. I think that it goes beyond the OL or the guys running the ball. I think that the book is out on how to stop an offense with Mariota and render it useless-gear up aggressively against the run, make him stay in the pocket and blitz the mess out of him. And, unlike the plan as to how to stop Brady-it doesn't require a talented defense to pull off. They can basically call the same defensive play every down.

Watching LA and even SF, our offense absolutely has no resemblance to others influenced by Shanahan. The fact that Nick Mullen is trusted to do more than Mariota is pretty telling. Mariota has to stay healthy and evolve to the point that defenses are no longer begging for him to step back and throw, or else this is the offense that we should get used to seeing.

 

Genuine question - why? They were part of the line that had success with zone 2 years ago?
