Unfortunate part is he was so good at protecting the football in college. (interception wise at least). He was also pretty accurate. He arguably looked more accurate his rookie year more so than any other year.

Having multiple coaches try and tweak his footwork and mechanics over the last few years probably isn’t helping much. Dunno how much of that leg injury still has a play in maybe his mentality or him still at times throwing off his back foot instead of stepping into a throw.

as has been mentioned a few times in this forum, Mariflota is a snap thrower, not a driver of the football. That's just who he is, and it was perfectly fine in college when he was throwing into huge windows and wide open guys, but now the windows are smaller and the margin for error is larger.

I doubt he'll ever be a football driver, he'll always be a Flota-type thrower, based on rhythm.

Hopefully he gets over this traumatic Funny Bone injury, that's all I gots to say.

He is a liability at this point. Has anyone had this dicey of an injury history in their first 3-4 years, and end up having a good long career?

Surely can’t be many. Maybe Sam Bradford, who keeps getting contracts somehow.. even though he’s never actually good.

Mariota is going to need some really strong performances when he gets back.
If he ever legitimately loses his job to Blaine Gabbert, he should go ahead and hang up his shoulder pads: take the big paychecks he has made, and never look back.

Lots of one-year wonders in recent times.

Oh well, at least we didn’t draft Jameis Winston.

I don’t know what the answer is for the Titans. Drafting a QB has not worked for more than a season or 2 since the move to TN.

Titans main issue with drafting QBs is they do it when they have no other choice, during bad QB draft class years.

They don’t do it the smart way. Green Bay had Brett Favre. They saw the talent Aaron Rodgers had went after him even though they already had a QB. Good future planning.

Colts had Peyton Manning. Arguably the greatest QB in history. Yeah, they weren’t sure if he would be the same after his surgery, but they could of drafted a top lineman or another weapon for Manning to have the next few years, but Andrew Luck fell in their laps and took it.

Chiefs had Alex Smith. He’s a good, safe and dependable QB. He’s no elite QB but he’s good enough to lead your team into the playoffs. Chiefs saw what they saw in Pat Mahomes and knew an elite talent like that doesn’t come around often. Could of just got Smith more weapons or one of the good defensive players available. Nope, took Mahomes cause they knew a stud QB like that isn’t every year.

Titans draft a QB, doesn’t pan out, rinse repeat.

Went immediately from Young, to Locker, from Locker, Mariota.

Maybe the should bring in a vet QB to try and help keep down a competitive team, then hold off on QB until someone comes out that they know will be a perfect fit and a good player. Not someone just cause they need a QB and happen to have an early pick.

Totally agree. Some of our most consistent years were when we had old farts like Collins and Hassslbeck at the helm. Not that they were awesome, but they were consistent. VY, Locker, Mariota.. woefully inconsistent and injury prone.

Favre had 321 consecutive starts, in an era where you aren’t coddled by referees, and were alllowes to get smashed. Seems crazy, because we can’t get a QB who will play for 8 straight games.
