Looking to replace a really antiquated Yahoo email group I host at work. About 5000 members.
It seems that the only options right now are Facebook Groups, Listserve or a Forum like this.
All options seem a bit old and a hard sell as a replacement option.
Anyone know of alternatives that the hip young folks are using?

Is it for work or for something else.

I have made extensive use of Microsoft SharePoint at work and love it.

Isn't sharepoint just a glorified version of onenote?

I have an existing email group w about 5000 members - worldwide. The group is an old Yahoo email group. Half of the people have forgotten their Yahoo logins from 2003 etc and cant access the message histories or galleries etc. They set up a new account and suddenly things are more screwed for them.

I'm looking at a replacement called IO right now. Works similar but seems to be a bit easier to manage..

No forums aren't "current". But they're still viable. Both forums and facebook groups are gonna have their drawbacks. I'm sure not all of your 5,000 members have FB accounts. And probably not all of your 5,000 members would bother frequenting a forum.

I used to mod a tight-knit medium-sized forum and over the years as we all started connecting on FB it morphed into a FB group and the forum is now dead. We lost a lot of people but it is what it is.

The pros of FB are obviously no cost and it's unlikely to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Man, I miss the heyday of the internet forum.

I think Google has something that will work for you, I cannot remember the name though.

    Anyone else know?

Is there a sub-reddit for the topic you cover? If not, that might be a nice option.

I don't think any of the above are ideal for younger folks BUT, if I were to do it with any you list, I'd go with a Facebook group. Reason being, through it may not be used a lot by them, most have an account already. You can send out a email with a link and it makes it easy for those who want to join.

Also, if this is related to your business, you can have it linked to your business page. Good juju.

We used to get 5-10 new members a day during the season. Now, it's more like 2-4 and half are spammers.

I don't think some younger folks even know they exist.

I've seem hatred from the youngsters for old style forums as such.
My group is probably 50% people over 50 so they are still in the "email world" and I think my groups.io solution is probably ideal for them.
My preference would be a group like this - but trying to get an old veterinarian to set up an account to something is quite difficult.
My ex father in law has passwords written on pieces of paper - taped all over his laptop. It's hilarious.
