having the time to do it right was amazing. Still took me a few days as I work in a deliberate manner.

breaching the firewall on the Sportrac was gut wrenching. Just could not bring myself to do it... finally summoned the courage and it was not that hard. Routing the cables under the dash was a PITA. Routing them to the back was not hard. Ford has an underutilized electronics channel under the sill plates. So that part was easy-ish.

The radio is pretty real sweet... 2 USB inputs and an AUX are on the rear. I just dropped them down by the console so all good there. Looks tight.

No hiding the sub so I just put it under the rear seat. Finding a ground was not as easy as it sounds as the Sportrac has mass loaded vinyl in the cab. Why it is quiet. Anyways had to just make a ground... kinda sucked but its done.

Overall I really like it compared to the factory head unit.

Will consider speakers at some point... but I really hate taking door panels off ... but that is all I would have to do now... so....

@GoT I also just installed a Kenwood Excelon in my truck. I believe I got the newer version. 9 something. Not completely sure. But it is very nice. Not much different than yours. Think mine comes with iheart radio and Waze app. Only problem is I use all my damn gb's on Pandora now lol.

    LOL

the power I ran would not support that beast. That thing probably needs an upgraded alternator and a trunk battery.

built into the head unit not the subwoofer... but the HU bluetooths with your phone so can play anything from your phone

    tweaked everything last night.

decided not to do the DTA ( digital time alignment ) as I doubt I personally could tell the difference anymore.

It is where you tell the HU how far you are from each speaker. Really dials it in for the driver. Looks time consuming and if your battery goes off for whatever reason probably need to redo... I dont know.

Might give it a shot at some point.

anyways HU is nice. Built in HD radio is a must IMO. 2 USBs... one for a music thumb drive the other as a rapid charger for the phone. At least that is my plan.

SW is more subtle than THUMP-THUMP-THUMP ... but that was what I expected.

because I am still using factory speakers I set the crossover at 120hz on both the HU & SW. If I had better speakers I could lower the crossover to 80ish hz and set the SW level up a notch or so... maybe next year
