So if you had to rank our oline last year? How do you think they played from a scale of 1 to 10?!...

Id probably gave them a low 6.

Titans oline gave up more sacks despite less dropbacks and we didnt even finish in the top 10 in running. I would say our oline was pathetic - we even got outplayed by a solid to horrendeous Jaguars oline. And they arent even that good on paper.

Every aspect of the offense took a step back last season. That’s why focusing on Mariotta as opposed to coaching was wrong-headed.

A 5, but scheme has a lot to do with it. I think we need a little help as far as depth goes, but coaching was the major issue and we've already improved there on paper, so i think we're fine

You have a lot of factors at play, IMO.

Mariota wasn't close to being himself for most of the season. Not being able to escape the rush means giving up sacks he avoids in '16. And, let's be honest, Henry is still horrible and seeing and picking up a blitzer.

Add into the mix new receivers with little prep together. Too many times they weren't on the same page.

Taking more of the offense off Mariota's arm led to more jumbo packages and an overall more conservative (and predictable) approach that allowed opposing defenses to load up to stop the run.

Add in the decline/injuries to Murray, Spain's injuries and the overall regression of Jones, IMO, and you get a significant drop-off in production.

Losing a quality blocking TE also hurt this OL last season.

I'm a little shocked the play of Ben Jones isn't discussed more. There may not be many options out there in free agency, and he would mean a $1.75M cap hit if released, but I would not be surprised to see a mid-round draft pick used on a C/G.

I'm hoping a new OL coach with a zone blocking scheme helps improve the interior OL. And I'm stoked about Lewis. He'll make the Titans OL look a lot better.

Thats alot of excuses for example the Jags season matched that in every way. Fournette struggled mightily in pass pro. Bortles was dealing with injury all season and had surgery after the playoffs. Their top 2 wrs missed most of the season and led missed games too making an undrafted rookie their leading reciever. Every starter on the o line outside of Linder missed games and their guards missed about a third of the season. Both teams had those struggles. The difference is Doug Marrone might be the best o line coach out there.

Jaguars oline played much better than ours last year.

I read somewhere over the course of the season that our online was a donut. Great on the edges, nothing but a big hole in the middle.

I’d say that’s accurate. Run blocking was terrible all year. Pass blocking in the Middle was poor.

Hopefully coaching changes mitigate a lot of that. Hard to block up the middle when there’s 9 guys there and everyone in the stadium knows it’s going there.

They didn't play much better, they just had a greater chance of success because the offense wasn't orchestrated by a drive killing lunatic. We had what once again appeared to be the best O line in the league during the beginning of the year, absolutely dominating Jacksonville and Seattle, but then everyone figured out our game plan and the jig was up.

When we can dominate Seattle, but then struggle against Indianapolis, then something else is going on. Which is usually the coaching.

Who is making excuses? There clearly was a decline, IMO. Particularly the interior. My point is there was a lot wrong with the Titans offense last season and some of that impacted OL play.

The Titans had a 136.7 ypg rushing avg in ’16 with a 221.3 passing avg. Last season, the rushing avg was 114.6 and 199.4 passing.

The Titans had the same OL coach for both seasons so I hope you are not implying it was Grimm that cost the Titans offense 50 yards a game.

You don't think if the Titans had Fournette have 256 carries behind the Titans OL last season they'd performed much better?

Yeah. They did. As did their RB. As did their QB. As did their defense. I'm not sure I understand your point. They played better across the board in just about every phase of the game.

Slippery slope there TJ. Everyone seems to blame Robiskie on the offense's decline, why not Grimm on the OL's?

Ah, never mind I see why....
