If we re-sign Marcus that is. Still not sold on him. Hoping he has a big bounce back year this year, though.

Mariota will be resigned. You know how hard it is to find a quality starting qb in this league?

Pretty hard, but is Marcus a quality starting qb when he throws more picks than TDs?

    Are you counting post-season?

His ratio is more TDs... the 4-1 ratio in the postseason helped.

Otherwise... his career is still more TDs.

He has a career of 58 TDs to 34 Ints.

He was playing in a pre historic system that did not favor a QB. The amount of two receiver sets that we ran and the play calling was abismal last year and really did not set up the offense to succeed and take advantage of mismatches.

He had a down year, but watch what happens when he has a real OC drawing things up and running a system that Mariota is more comfortable with.

As the wise man Aaron Rodgers once said.

They have finally set him up to have success. If he can’t, it’s not the org. You have to give them props for at least acknowledging he and the team needed something different.

If you bring it, he will come. I don’t think he will let them or you down. He will hold himself accountable. Look at what he has done already this offseason. Chemistry happening early and often with the receivers.

Be prepared to write the check.

I’m a big Oregon fan and have watched Mariota since he was coming out of high school. Have heard plenty of stories about him, and about how high of a character he has, and he’s a team first guy.

With all this Lewan and Mariota extension talk, and how ridiculous the QB contracts are getting now days I’ve been wondering if Mariota would take a lesser contract to help the team.

The top QB contracts will be getting around 30 a year when he is due to be signed. I could see him being a guy that doesn’t necessarily want to take the max he can get in order to let the team save some cap to be able to keep and obtain other high priced players.

Now I still think he will make a ton of money, maybe he takes 18-20 a year when he could have got 28-30, but he may not feel like he has to be the next guy to set the new bar for highest paid qb like the norm. Could be wishful thinking I suppose, but Mariota seems like the kind of guy to do this if anyone would.

If the team is doing well then yes he might give us a hometown discount, but not $20M. Im thinking $25M/year is more realistic

Any kind of a discount can help.
