Should the Titans trade up

Go ahead and trade next year’s first. It will basically be a second anyway.

 

I think we still have enough needs that makes it tougher to give up the capital to move up. Would like to but we need more depth

 

I’m not sure why a high first round nose tackle is all that important to a 3-4 defense. I’d rather go edge rusher if we trade up

 

Vea isn’t just a NT. He can play DT/DE opposite Casey when they go two down linemen in nickel packages. Which is pretty much a base defense in today’s league.

 

I think vea is a beast, and those kind of tackles are rare. Great defenses are often anchored by a stud tackle. The ravens with ngnata. Bucs had sapp. We had haynesworth.

Outside rush is all well and good, but the best passers are adept at getting the ball out and or stepping up out of the path of the rush.

You need someone who can push the middle of the pocket in to prevent that step up.

Can you imagine a three man line of Casey, vea, and jones? That would be hard to stop all by itself, let alone the guys coming around the edge.

And with the secondary we have, we could have an elite defense, fast, with a promising young offense to boot.

I would be cool trading up for smith as well. Maybe James. But vea is the one I want.

 

nothing a couple 4ths couldnt fix. Derwin is the only name id trade up for though.

 

Move up and trade this years first and next years 1st to the Cards(15th) or seattle(18th) for theyre first and next years 2nd. Assumining we make the playoffs and the other team tanks itll only be a 5 to 15 spot drop next year from the back of the 1st to the top of the 2nd

 

This would be a great move, I just question whether 15 or 18 would be high enough to get the guy we want, depending on who that guy is.

The normal mad run on QBs will help us in this respect though, if 5 go in the first 15 picks (which is looking likely) thats great news for us.

 

Not sure what the calc looks like, but 25 to 15 would make me think it would cost a 2nd and 4th, possibly 3rd depending on the team. As much as I'd want to, that's a lot of draft capital.
