Jags resign Bortles 3yrs, 54m

I know none of the new contract details. I know that they previously had him for $19 million, on a one-year deal. What guaranteed amount the new contract offers I don't know.

Now they're committed to paying him similarly for 3 more years. He may prove to be worth it, but he's being paid just outside of the top-ten salary wise (around 12th or 13th I think).

Time will tell, I suppose.

 

Key for bortles success, stop turning the ball over. Key to limiting bortles turnover, take the ball out of his hands.
Key to winning SB, defense.

Jags have the weapons to minimize the damage bortles can do with Fournette and a good defense. Just in case, they have a few WR targets that can help him out.

Bortles is lower than average but probably is a starter. Jags are one of the few teams not spending half their cap on a QB.

I don't think this is a bad signing. Sure there are upgrades for bortles, but who's available and at a decent price range as to not cause a total defense dismantling to pay him?

 

Since bortles entered the league I'd say he's been better than Flaccid
