Of course I know what they are. I detailed the routes run and the position of the defender and why the interception happened. You incorrectly said it was a corner smash concept (it’s not), said the defender squatted the underneath route (he didn’t), said Peters didn’t get out of his backpedal (he didn’t backpedal as he used a bail technique at the snap), and said Mariota only needs to read the outside cb and no one else (which is wrong).

You appear to hate Mariota and misrepresent what happened and what’s supposed to happen simply so you can blame him. Your concept of what happened on the play factually is wrong so it’s no wonder your conclusion is wrong. People only mess that up if they either don’t understand or they are ‘changing’ the ‘facts’ to support the argument they are trying to make.

And if you watched the play...where is Peters? Playing off. At the snap of the ball what does he do? He bails to play over the top. Is he squatting underneath Decker? No. Is he squatting underneath Walker? No. But you said he did.....which was wrong. So where is the qb taught to go in this concept if the corner is off, bailing and dropping back?

That’s a simple question. Second question you refuse to answer is why is Davis only 2-3 yards away from Walker? Walker and Davis got free releases so no bumping to slow them down. Walker runs for 15yds, slows to make his break out and runs another 5+yds towards the sideline where Davis is barely deeper than him. If Delanie can run 20 yards and slow down at the break, Davis should be at least 25yds downfield...but he’s not....only 17-18yards and that’s without slowing down for a break since he’s supposed to be running a GO route. Only explanations are he didn’t run hard (his job in this concept) or he ran the wrong route.

Mariota read the play correctly and threw a good pass to Walker. But Davis didn’t do his job which allowed Peters to make a great play.

And this isn’t the only play you change the facts so you can hate on Mariota. You claimed Mariotas pass on the crossing route was late and behind him. Neither of those are true.

If you want to say something out of pure opinion...go ahead. But don’t change reality and misrepresent facts and base your opinions on made up facts. You might fool some of the people who won’t check those facts but you won’t fool the ones who do. And then you lose all credibility!!!

If you truly want to discuss Mariota, try using reality to do it. Wail on him on the 7 picks that are on him. There is plenty to wail about. Complain about his mechanics or his footwork or he hasn’t been the same since the injury or you don’t think he’ll ever reach his potential or he doesn’t have a canon for an arm. But making stuff up to make him look worse than he is is just being a hater or a troll....or both![/QUOTE]

The KC pick was debated ad naseum in the week following the game.

    There were 3 camps;

    1 Davis ran a sh.yte route
    2 Mariota didn't read Peters
3 Peters just made a great play

FWIW, im a bit of a rookie when it comes to analysing play. But what I saw was a combination of 1 and 3.

Davis didn't do anywhere near enough to force Peters to think he could be getting the ball. Sloppy. Mariota puts the ball EXACTLY where it needed to be. He put it EXACTLY where Walkers route ended.

I distinctly remember the commentary team at half time showing the INT vs the EXACT same play KC had successfully run in the 1st quarter, where Smith completed the pass to Kelce, and the difference was the WR dragging the CB into the endzone, leaving the space for the TE.

Mariota was pure sh*t this year and people use a fluke play vs the Chiefs as their Men in Black memory eraser. Before that, we mostly agreed he was playing like trash. Since then? Guy is given a free pass for some reason.

Emotions don't make for good arguments.

Gut, go back and read my original post where I mention three different route combinations and not just the Corner/smash. You're compulsively fixated.

Peters didn't clear therefor all he had to do was make an easy play on the Mariota throw. If you guys want to give Peters all the credit on that play, so be it, but we all know the scouting report on Peters and how he was the main focal point of that entire play. Mariota did a poor job and was playing with fire if he thought he could just throw in that direction with that route concept without verification of Peters nameplate.

    I'm done talking about this.

Why do you assume because we defend or try to rationalize one int then that means we are showing a blind eye to every mistake he has made

Watch this whole video, but especially pay attention to Gruden on draft day, and this is the first time I ever agreed with Colin Cowcrap.. And what his caller was referring to is Mariota's first game with 4TD's in the first half, setting that record, and tying the whole game total for a first game rookie

    Gruden emphasizes teaching.

The movie us good though.. about 12 minutes.

One of the few people who is emotional is you. Labeling an entire season as cr#p is not accurate or helpful to any debate. And who said discussing one play erases anything good or bad. JWill claimed several things on the play which is why he blamed Mariota and I simply pointed out the numerous things that were wrong and WHY it wasn't Mariota's fault on that play.

In my first post in this thread I pointed out what happened on every single INT and I certainly didn't absolve Mariota of all of them! When he messed up, I attributed the blame to him. When others messed up, they got their share. With a few plays you can interpret fairly in different ways. That's called a rational and logical discussion.

    Give it a shot!

    I'm compulsively fixated? LOL

Sorry, but you and Deuce are the ones compulsively fixated on bashing Mariota...mostly unjustly.

    But I digress...

I like how you ignore the numerous mischaracterizations you made about this play (and it's not the only one) that I pointed out as untrue. Do you apologize for it? No. Do you acknowledge YOU made mistakes in analyzing the play? No.

Even after I CORRECT what you said to prove who was to blame, you ignore the FACTS again, blame Mariota again...and then say you're done talking about it?

You should be done talking about this, my friend, because you are losing credibility every time you try to state a 'fact' you've altered to fit your desire to blame Mariota instead of 'seeing' what actually happened.

Nope. You're allowing being a fan to skew your reality.

Anyone that watched Mariota (without a "OMG I LUV HIM AW" bias) this year knows he simply didn't play well.

Anyone that is too attached emotionally- will die trying to defend said bad play.

    Which are you?
