No way. Anderson is old and is not a guy I trust to do more than hold a clipboard.

Whether it's getting a guy like Semian or drafting a guy, we really need to take a hard look at our 2nd QB situation, especially if Marcus is going to be expected to move more in a new offensive system.

7th is fair, but 6th would get this done IMO

denver knows theyre cutting him in a months time with no recourse, why not gain an extra shot at a draft pick if youre them...?

Only way Id bail on this plan is if the compensation becomes a 5th rounder or higher. 5th round still offers capable players, and JR has hit on 5th rd picks 2 of 2 years hes been the GM

Maybe we need the backup ranking thread now.

    Majority think Mariota is 11-15.

Where is siemian on the backup list? We can rank anderson and Cassel and the whole mess of guys not good enough to start.

Cassel really doesn't belong in the NFL at this point, he has NO arm strength whatsoever

    Anderson isn't any better either

Id rank the best backups who are FA's like this :
    Teddy Bridgewater
    Matt Moore
    Josh McCown
AJ McCarron (likely starts somewhere in 2018)
    Ryan Fitzpatrick
    Robert Griffin
    Tim Tebow
    Derek Anderson
    Matt Cassel

TBH, I would like a vet backup, someone to help mentor Mariota. Just as we had with Dave Kreig and Neil O'Donnell for McNair. Matt Moore would be my first choice and word is he wants out of Miami.

of course he wants out in Miami, they gave up on him when they called Cutler out of retirement

Plus Tannehill coming back wont help him either

Id be all about Matt Moore and Im pretty sure you know that, but the issue is does Matt Moore like us enough to sign here..

It is as good a place as any for a backup. New staff with exciting new offense, stability, winning team with bright future, no state income tax, nice city, what is not to like?

Only issue I can see is that maybe he does not like the idea of backing up a guy from Oregon (Moore went to Oregon State). I doubt it though.

really reaching on the Oregon St vs Oregon thing

another reason he might not come here is every other NFL team looking for QB insurance. Minn, NE, NY, and virtually all of the NFL want the same thing we do, a capable QB2.

Moore will be in high demand IMO, trading a useless 6th for Siemian is smart football.

Bridgewater is a starter. The only question is if he's healthy. If not, he's not a backup either.

I wouldn't have listed tebow. Not only is he not coming back, he's worse than Cassel.

Mccarron will probably get his shot to start but I think he's a backup and among the better ones.

Mccown, moore, probably Fitzpatrick are about the best backup guys.

FWIW, I think Brissett could be decent if the line didn't suck in Indy.
I think Tom savage is alright.
Chad Henne is a good backup.
Keenum is a good backup (that's right, backup)
Nick foles is a good backup (see above)

Proabably more, just didn't look anything up.

There's also a few guys that just never play. Who's drew Bree's backup? Eli Manning's? Philip rivers? Not really asking, but they've had zero shot to play and prove where they stand.
