didn't see any existing thread on home maintenance or improvements.

Looking to see if anyone know anything about replacing fireplace blowers? The motor on mine had an accident (f'in dog chewed up and ate half the power cord) and I need to replace it but I think the model (can't find any numbers) is old.

I wouldn't let either of these guys fix anything of mine but the general idea is there.
Strip away the plastic coat around the smaller wires then twist or solder them back together or wrap them in electrical tape.

I've actually done this before with other electronics, the problem I have is the plug is physically gone, not just chewed through.

Doesn't matter if the issue is just a power cord. Some Ace guy can figure the guage of the wire (probably 12 stranded) and give you another cord. It should connect to the blower motor via screw panel or wire nuts right inside the entrance into the motor, as this will most likely be a separate junction box from the motor. Pretty much the same with most DC motors from fan to table saw.

The thing is, in this circumstance you'll want to replace the whole cord instead of trying to repair the one you have, unless it's simply replacing the receptacle prongs. No tape repairs, brah.

Can't believe I hadn't thought of that. Thank you. It actually should be very easy.

Separate note, I did splice a tv power cord back together and leave electrical tape around the outside. Worked fine until I replaced it a couple years later.

Yes, tv cord was probably fine, but there's something about "fireplace blower" that says "maybe I should make sure it's a heat-resistant material". You may want to mention that to your hardware store.

I'm upset this thread isn't about the Tim Allen show from the 90's.

Replacing a damaged power supply cord should be no problem (why do you think that the fan motor is damaged?) - just be sure use the same gauge wiring (typically 14/2). Any decent handyman should be able to handle that.

Already fixed. It was really easy when replaceing the entire cord vs. trying to splice a new cord together.

It was a normal cord not specific wires and my dog chew and ate the plug end is why it stopped working.
