Ryan Day potential OC

No argument there from our perspective....what will be interesting to see is how this if viewed from Day's perspective (who worked with Kaep directly)....that is all I am saying here.

Personal/political issues aside, Kaep is similar (albeit at a much lower level) in skillset to Mariota, and he does have more familiarity with Day's offense here. Again, if, given all of this, Day does not give Kaep a look that would be telling IMO.

 

Pretty much anyone would be an improvement over Castle at this point.

 

Not sure I would trust Mariota's backup role to a raw rookie at this point....Mariota has yet to get through 16 games in a season, so whoever we bring in needs to be ready to play. Not sure Barrett fits that mold next season.

Would not be opposed to taking a shot at him in a later round or as an undrafted FA though (as long as we have a serviceable backup also).

 

I'd rather develop a QB with a higher pick. If we're going to use Mariota more as a runner more in a spread read system, we're going to need a good backup. I would not be surprised to see us take a QB in the 4th or higher even.

And as for Barrett, I wouldn't take him if someone paid us to. He's not even close to an NFL level QB.

This sounds really promising actually. This simple stat alone has me high on Day now.

So the Pats were dumb for taking Jimmy G? Or the Skins for taking Cousins? Our backup will play in a spread read system. I don't want some no-name, talent-less JAG out there. The QB position is far more important than a backup linebacker, we need to invest in a good backup there.

 

i realize there is a lot of "we hate JT and the buckeyes" across the land but he's actually good lol

getting him in the 7th would be a steal if we are bringing in his OC

 

I don't hate on Buckeyes in the NFL for our team if they're good, but he's not an NFL QB. There's 100 other players from that team that I'd love to have though.
