It's' a news story so people are going to say a bunch of chit no matter what. The proof is in the pudding.

Every fanbase wants the up and coming guy before another team grabs them. experienced coaches who are up and coming just don't exist. You have to take a risk to get the next Belicheck (or McVay etc).

JRob openly says its a risk. But his name (and job) is on the line and this is the guy he feels good about. Let JRob do his job. By all accounts, Vrabel is everything JRob said he was looking for in a HC. JRob pulled the trigger on Mularkey because he knew Mularkey's scheme had to go. I can trust that if JRob saw that, he knows how important getting the right HC is for the team AND how important the RIGHT OC is for the team as well.

Put it this way. I am 100% confident we are not worse off with Vrabel as HC than we would be Mularkey. And I trust JRob knows what we've got going on behind the scenes to get a good offensive mind in here.

    Chill out people.

No one hireable has hard data on why they are awesome

If they did they wouldn’t be available lol

I agree with this 100%. Vrabel may not be some offensive guru, but the last time we hired an "offensive guru" into the HC role was a disaster (Whiz), so I was never bullish on that approach here anyway. In looking at the resumes I personally liked Wilks better, but as I have said a few times on here I also acknowledge that I am a GoTitans poster and not the GM here....

To me Vrabel is like a younger, more energetic, less stubborn version of Mularkey, which is not necessarily bad if he does have good leadership and management skills. If he is open to delegating the Xs and Os of both offense and defense to his coordinators (which is what Belicheat largely does) this could be a good thing IMO.

As I said after we whacked Mularkey, if he had evolved into becoming more of a leader and less of a micromanager of the offense, he may have been more successful here. Maybe this is the test of that theory.

    That's not true.

Each candidate has data on their performance at their previous job.

Check out where the Texans defense was.

    Pretty true

Most guys with the most “awesome data” fail

    Ie McDaniels in Denver
    Chip jelly
    Ken Whisenhunt
    Rex Ryan

    I could probably keep going

I believe he's saying the opposite. He'd rather take a chance on a young unproven than a "Big Name" proven failure.

    I think.

But there’s no evidence of what’s real or not....every head coach hire is based off feels

Jrob feels vrabels the best man for the job. He felt mularkey sucked even though some of YOU felt like he should be extended at 8-4...That’s enough for me!

Actually @Tennessy XO if you want to go off hard data it’s way more likely the guy with “hard data” as a coordinator will fail as a head coach

You FEEL a guy with a great history of coordinating would be a better hire based off nothing more than feels, because exactly no evidence supports that

Jrob sees the talent in place. He brought in a guy who can run the team, and let his coordinators put in work.

Call me crazy but I like it
