If anything mularkey junked the gun and said he was offered an extension before actually talking about the extension just to make jrob look bad

I'm very happy with this move!!!
Our D took a decided downturn when Vrabel took over for Romeo.
Now Romeo is back at DC !!

As for what he'll do for the Titans?
Maybe he'll work out for you guys but I just dont see it happening.

No one will ever know exactly what happened besides Steve Underwood, JRob, and Coach Mularkey...

My opinion: JRob knew he was going to can Mularkey at some point this season, that much I think is obvious with all the speculation going into week 17 and the wild card round. AAS gives a vote of confidence so there's no distractions...When we went 9-7 and won a playoff game, he needed to write the narrative with the fan base.

Bring Mularkey in 1 day after, text a media guy you trust that you are meeting with him to discuss an extension, IMO there was little chance he was ever going to be extended but there was 0% chance he was coaching this season on a 1 year deal, those things don't happen in professional sports, so the media leaks the story..

Whether or not it was offered, offered with stipulations, I doubt we'll ever know. My best guess is they lowballed Mularkey on $$$, and stripped him of control of his staff (Knowing of course he wouldn't accept the conditions), essentially firing him without having to..

Then Jrob has no blood on his hands, doesn't have to lie to the fanbase, and gets the guy he wanted all along, his friend Vrabel.

 

That’s right, none of them were in the room so it’s speculation. JR does not seem like the sort to leak that kind of information, especially since he probably made a decision to move on weeks before.
