I guess this is just wait & see situation. Will really see next year if it was the talent or the coaching that played a huge turn around in the last two years.

I dont really understand this logic. Every team has to deal with that....that is a good sign...means we have a kicka$$ offense going on. Heck we were wanting coordinators left and right from teams that were successful and had what we want.

Can’t be scared to hire based on some unknown future opportunity. Cant have it both ways.

Mularkey was fired because he wouldn't make changes to his staff....I don't believe he was fired strictly because they didn't want him, they did offer him an extension.

bro. Jrob fired Mularkey to give his friend the job. Lets just be real here.

I honestly don't know the X's and O's, have an expert opinion, but I look at the world as it is. I don't know if Vrabel deserves the job from a football point of view, his resume doesn't automatically tell me he deserves a head coaching gig, but I can tell you that he is the coach because he is who Jrob intended to hire from about Christmas.

Theres no need to cover it up at this point. This has happened. I am glad Mularkey is gone, dont get me wrong, but i hate the fact that Jrob put this all in motion so his boy could get the job.

    It was both, no doubt.
Despite what you may think, I don't think Mularkey was perfect by any means. But he did some good things. That is all I am saying.

Whether he needed to go now or later......as I look back at what transpired, the way it went down, and the timing of everything......he lost the internal chess match/political fight. He knew he was gone before the Pats game.

(Hell....I have had to fire people......a few I wanted gone badly. I will have to again, I am sure. In the end, I still felt for anyone who lost their job. There is no joy in it.)

People saying he had a bad year... 19 Texans ended up on injured Reserve. A great portion on defense...

Cut LeBeaus starters out from under him, and we would have been torched.

    See Subjugations reply.

And technically NO extension was ever put in writing. It was a conversation.
One in which Mularkey knew the outcome Robinson wanted. He knew he was out before the Pats game. That's why he was so defiant in his last press conference.
It's like saying.....".I will give a $200m contract. I just need you to go outside and lift your car over your head". You can throw out there whatever you want when you already know the outcome you have in place.

Being "fired for not making staff changes" keeps everyone happy with Robinson. He was gone before the kickoff of his last game.

I see where you're coming from. But I think this line of thinking is getting ahead of ourselves a bit. We need to actually get the offense back on track before we start worrying about other teams coming to steal our god mode OC. This is something that's likely at least 2 years away from even potentially becoming an issue. And a lot can happen between now and then.
