History of teams who fired coach after playoffs

    i remember hearing how “ no team fired their coach after making the playoffs” and “they’d be so stupid they’ll def be worse” and “no coach will ever wanna gonthere after that”

    Well let’s look at history


    In history 4 teams fired their coach after a playoff run

    2 won the super bowl the following year
    1 lost the afc champ game

    1 missed the playoffs

    So I guess it’s actually a pretty good history and these other gm’s weren’t fooled by a good record neither and saw the need for improvement

    Where do we end up??

    Like anything there needs to be some context, like what/who were the teams, etc. Obviously one is the Buccaneers with Gruden after they fired dungy. What are the other 3?

    One was the bears that misssd playoffs
    2015 Broncos
    And like you mentioned the bucs

    3 of these teams were sooooo close to being a superbowl team that they had to make a move to get it(or almost get it), we are not exactly in that spot

    I saw several teams dumping coordinators who are light years ahead of Robiskie, so I was hoping we'd fire ours after the playoff run.

    Hearing Sunday we would keep everything the same was so frustrating, didnt even watch football that day I was so pissed..

    Chargers fired Schottenheimer for not getting far enough in the playoffs, then the chargers continued to flounder in the playoffs, until current day, where they are lucky to even make the playoffs, and left their hometown because SD was tired of them.. Can't say that one really paid off for them.
