After getting to watch most of the Jrob comments, it became perfectly clear what happened. This is all about Mariota. Basically he said we have to find out very soon if he is the guy we drafted to be the franchise. Since a QB makes way more than an OC, the obvious way is to can the OC. Then if the QB still fails, you move on. But you have to find out one way or another. Obviously MM was convinced that M8 was the problem, and not Robiskie. 5 years is long enough to experiment with a QB. This also has the added benefit of pleasing the fan base. I remember the mess with VY. Very few would come out and say he's just no good. So they blamed receivers and fired Chow. Finally people had to concede he wasn't NFL material. I rag on M8 a lot because I don't think he can get there, but this will hopefully give him a fair shot. With the right OC and QB coach maybe the game slows down for him and he can play naturally. That's all folks.

I think situation has as much to do with a QBs success as talent does (with the rare exceptions of course)

Would Brady be the Goat if he played for the Browns his whole career? Probably not.

Vince Young may have found success under someone other than Fisher.

The reason finding great QBs is so hard is because it takes equal amounts of talent + situation.

We have a QB that we think has talent, now we have to put him in the right situation. Hopefully we find that sweet spot.

Okay, so your saying we should subject MM8 to an acid test? Acid is extremely dangerous if not handled correctly. Just ask these Indian chicks.

But it's not like we've been waiting for 3 years for something to happen with MM8. MM8 showed us in his rookie and sophomore year that he was the right pick. Now it's up to MM8 to show us next season that this season was just a slump.

Last year alone told jrob that Marcus was the right qb. He did not move on from a coach to figure that out. He moved on from the coach to maximize his most valuable asset, his current qb. Did you watch the chiefs game? Marcus is legit and can be a Star qb in this league. We are not moving on from him...get over that.
