Mariota just isn’t the guy.

First year aside, if we’re judging by the amount of winning seasons by both. Marcus has 2 winning seasons and 1 losing to go with one playoff win. Jameis has one winning season and to go with two losing. He has 0 playoff victories.

Why is this important? As poor as his play was this year, they still won and made the playoffs. His numbers in the last three years from a yardage standpoint is slightly less. He has quite a few less interceptions but also has less Td’s. To me it’s not all about numbers. It’s intangibles. It’s his presence he has on the team and how his team responds to that. To me that’s a bigger key than any number or stat.

People question his leadership because of how quiet he is and because he doesn’t make an ass of himself making obscene gestures on the field in front of his teammates. It’s like Delanie says, he’s the silent assassin. He leads by example and his team follows. He has a very positive and healthy effect (He’s not a cancer or a distraction) on his teammates and the organization. In the end...character truly does matter. If he ever gets his act completely together.

Last night on Titans on 2, even MM called him out and said when he "struggles" (insert whatever meaning you want) that the offense is a mess. He said he was talking out of school, which was interesting. Some coaches take the rap for bad play, some acknowledge it's other things. He said what we know though, that the team is with him, but he's got to perform for us to win.

Yesterday, Skip Bayless said he would never have drafted M8, that he had no feel for the game, but also said he makes up for some of that with his competitive nature and desire to win.

Skip Bayless still thinks Tebow is a great QB, and should be starting in the NFL.

They pay this guy to cause controversy to increase ratings. He is a great a tornado, because sometimes it actually seems like he truly believes what he says.

I'm a Patriots fan hanging out here a bit this week, so I don't get to see Mariota much. I can only say my impression based on last week's game: this guy has as competitive fire and spirit you do not see every day. As an outsider, I am frankly shocked there would be a discussion along the lines of "He isn't our guy." Maybe ya'll were in some doldrums or something, because he looks like the real deal to me.
