This Defense is not Good.

They're too busy letting 3rd string QBS drive down the field for game winning field goals, dropping game ending INTs and letting slow tight ends run down the field for 40 yards.

 

I agreed the stats are skewed. They are for every team to some degree.

It's my belief that under a different DC who isn't 80 years old, the coverage schemes will be improved and players will be in better position to make plays. Adoree's ball skills will eventually result in INTs instead of just PBUs and Byard will be in position to make more as well. I don't think it's a coincidence that McCourty has been vastly superior subsequent to joining another team, nor that Logan Ryan was averaging over 3 INTs per year prior to recording 0 with us.

 

we make every opposing QB look great. It has been like that for ever. I can never figure it out.

 

We are an average team, period. Outside Pitt and Houston, tell me a game that the d cost us?

I guess if we are just complaining about everything then surr our d sucks. However, if we 11-4,12-3 noone is talking about us sucking and they certainly not nickpicking the d. And the o is the reason we dont have 11-12 wins.

 

SF, the D allows scores on 7/8 drives.
Houston 1- no stops at all until it was a blowout.
Pittsburgh - some stops, then broke for a score on every drive late.

That's a couple Defensively terrible games.

Which games were "won" by the defense? They're not awful, just not good either. Very middle of the pack with nothing really special.

There's some players here though. Better scheme and a couple upgrades will make a huge difference. I'd like to see another superstar on the team. Casey is PB caliber every year, need another one.

 

I don’t think that anyone is claiming we have a great defense, but the defense is not bad.

We do a great job of preventing the big play...we have allowed the 2nd fewest 20+ yd plays in the league. We actually are 7th best in 3rd Down efficiency. Yes we have played some bad qbs, but all the other teams in the league have too. Good qbs can shread most defenses these days.

We have to scheme to get our sacks because we don’t have that dynamic edge rusher. Just give me one true speed rusher and this defense will be really good.

I don't do anything of note. I don't really hang out with friends, I don't accomplish anything. I take 5 naps, sleep in, watch some sports, eat some food. Nobody gets hurt or sick, though. No bad news.

Co- worker asks about my weekend. I say it was good.
