P.S. When I fail to make the playoffs next year and have yet another sub .500 season I want you to remember how close we were to the playoffs this year and how happy it made you that way I can maybe steal another year in the NFL as a head coach, thanks for having such low expectations and may you never raise them.

    Sincerely, Mr. .300 Mike Mularkey

We had a good year against one of the lowest S.O.S in the NFL. Our adjusted S.O.S is .462 currently.

When the other teams in the division improve drastically; will we be competing with them......We certainly did not this year. We won 1 game in division; against a team that now (Thanks to us) has 3 wins total.

The Jags WILL improve with when they hire a better HC. We saw that 1st hand. They are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball.

Texans again won the division with HORRIBLE QB play & missing a huge piece of their defense.

The Colts have ignored the oline for years. They finally started to address it this year. Once they give Luck some blocking he will improve even more.

We do not have the talent of the teams in our division. We NEED better coaching to get an edge against teams that know us well. I HOPE Mularkey proves me wrong. Lord knows I want to see this team in the playoffs. However, seeing us be average in record with a weak schedule does not inspire me that much.

Mularkey has been continually mediocre at best as HC; WHEN he is at his best. Our offense has been very predictable. Our team has came out multiple times this year not ready to play. The game plans & play calling have been horrific at times. Could he make the leap & change things......Maybe. However, history says no. If I am wrong I WILL be happy. However, I just can't believe it till I see it. He will get another year, no doubt. However, I really hope the owner wakes up if we have another mediocre year.

    Happy New Year.

Here's our chance part deux. Kidding. But as I stated in a previous post. I wouldn't mind at all for him to come in as the teams offensive coordinator for next season. I think he would be terrific with Marcus. And he might learn how to coach at this level accepting a coordinator position for a couple of years.

IDK, guy seems to be hated & fired everywhere he goes........There has to be a reason that teams are so eager to eat millions of dollars to get away from him so quickly.

Maybe he is a great guy. No one really knows I guess.

He may be much better as an OC. Maybe after a few years as an OC he; as you said, learns to coach at this level. If he gets the chance to be an OC in the NFL it will probably be the best thing for his career; if he plans to stay in the NFL.

His philosophy is completely different from Mularkey's. The Titans don't have a running back on the roster that fits his scheme (Murray was an utter disaster last season). The Titans defense has a difficult time stopping the pass as it is. Putting them on the field even more sure isn't going to work. Why would you even suggest something like that?

We are 9-7 and just beat the Texans for the first time in a minute with Matt Cassell ... Why does this thread exist?

I am not trying to be rude, but it exists because we were mediocre in a year that we had a VERY easy S.O.S.......

It exists because Mularkey admitted the team was not ready to play the Jags. He KNEW they were not ready to play the Jags; and attempted nothing to change it. The team has also been unprepared to play in other games that could've change our playoff future. Yes some of that is on players. A lot in fact. However, the HC is paid to motivate & fix those issues. Especially when they are obvious.

It exists because although the team improved; the play calling & game plans have been plain BAD several weeks.

There have been improvements. However, I do not think that several of us believe those improvement are result of coaching. I think those improvements can be credited to an easy schedule (.462 one of the lowest SOS in the league) and an improved roster.

I am not saying he has made NO difference. However, it seems the positives are usually offset by negatives. Challenges that make no sense. Mularkey is 1 of 7 on challenges this year. He is stuck on riding Murray; even when he was not playing well. Today Henry got more PT than any game I remember this year. Murray has been great. However, there are times he could've been more effective with more rest IMO. He let his commitment to Murray over shadow his obligation to the team at times. He did this with others as well.....Blake is a prime example. Reed absolutely should've gotten more playing time. We have no idea what the kid can do in games. We KNOW Blake is going to get burnt.
