Namecalling, how mature. I played rugby for many years, and raced NHRA for many more at speeds that would cause you to brown your pants. So get off the silly names. You live in some fantasy world, and your quote sounds like something from the movie Major League (this team is coming together). But fishing sounds like something that you can handle emotionally and physically....not really a fast paced type of thing. Good luck!

Right now the name of the game is to get on the same page and not get hurt doing it. So we'll see things progress once the games actually matter.

Uhm... taking care of the football is the single most important aspect for the QB. As I see it and maybe I'm misinterpreting your feeling, is that you would like to see a more vertical passing game from him. Y/N? I personally prefer he take care of the ball and control the freaking clock with a run first and ball control passing attack. Jesus folks, it might not be "sexy" but that chit is effective. Heck even Brady had to use the short passing game when they had no run game or deep threat in New England... 1. Don't turn the ball over. 2. Don't force the deep ball. 3. Control the clock and allow a defense which was on the field more than 33 minutes a game on average last year to stay off the field with long sustained drives. 4. Cut down on penalties. 5. Cut down on sacks... that's a winning formula for a team with few standouts. Outside of Mariota, Walker and Murray (Henry) who do we really have that's a proven commodity yet? Sharpe appears to be the real deal, but again it's pre season. Wright, Hunter, DGB? I'm happy they won, they ran the ball well and the o line actually opened some holes... NO they won't run for 288 yards a game, but with the talent at RB now it won't surprise me to see 150+ in the rushing column per game and that's going to translate I to more wins. It will also open some things up in PAP game as it should. If Mariota averages last season's numbers and we add another 40-50 extra on the ground per game... saying that, I still think this team is a 5 or 6 win team until or unless the defense comes together, and that might not be this season people.

Things that I take away from this preseason game.....

1.) It's a preseason football game, which means many things. It's not a full game for our 1's. Everyone is rusty and working out the kinks (penalties, coming off the ball, etc.). On one hand, it doesn't have any implications for the regular season record, but on the other it has a lot of implications on our roster spots. Who makes the team and who doesn't. Also, can our coaches get a gameplan together and stick with it. Where players land on the depth chart. Etc.

2.) This "Exotic Smashmouth" that we talk about. I think we can all agree that we definitly saw the smashmouth aspect. The offensive line played fairly well. Murray and Henry looked great. Statistically Murray outperformed Henry, but when I watch the game Henry was consistently getting 6-17 yards a carry. Making really nice cuts and playing behind his pads. Both looked great and add a lot to what has been a nonexistent running game. Should definitly help out Marcus. The exotic part will hopefully come in the regular season. That's where guys like Marcus, Delanie, Taje, Rishard come in and make plays.

3.) I was impressed with Jack Conklin's first NFL start. He handled his own, would've like to have seen him and Bosa tee off. Didn't really see him get beat, didn't see him maul guys over either. Hopefully he can continue to get more integrated with our vets up front, learn, and apply.

4.) DGB looked horrible. He did have a key block on Murray's long TD, but other than that he did nothing. Had a deep ball shot at him and didn't even finish the route. Had the defender beat and not that he couldn't, but DIDN'T make the play.

5.) Marcus solid and calm. It's what we've come accustom to seeing. Made every throw and used his legs to help make some of them happen. My hope is that our running game can be consistent for him so that it doesn't all fall on his arm. Even last night with how we ran the ball, play action and boot was pretty effective. Hopefully that can continue and he can better his ball security and just improve overall this year.

6.) Defensively, we looked okay. More worse than good, but again 1's weren't in the game for very long. Avery totally whiffed on Melvin Gordan's long TD reception. Kevin Byard looked solid and gives me some hope for our secondary in the middle. On the outside it looked like San Diego overthrew a handful of deep balls and we were in a bad position if they had made those catches. Hoping to see more over the next few weeks.

7.) Again.... It's a preseason football game. We played a not so good Chargers team, especially on their defensive side of the ball. I'm hoping we can continue to get better and stay consistent in the run game. If we can and Murray and Henry both don't get an overload we should be pretty competitive on a weekly basis. If it is consistent, it can do wonders for this organization. It will make us much less one dimensional on offense. If the defense can continue to improve off of last year and stay healthy, we can be pretty good. And pretty good for us would be not drafting in the Top 10 in the 2017 draft ..... Unless it's with the Ram's Selection.

Rugby and NHRA? Explains a lot...... Too many hits to the head and inhaling all those exhaust fumes has done permanent damage. I will cut you some slack from now on now that I realize you just don't have much left in the tank.

DGB made a nice catch on 3rd and 13 to convert a 1st down. Think that's worth mentioning when analyzing DGB's night.
