I agree Jones is better than Schwenke. But Schwenke can't stay healthy and honestly shouldn't even be on the roster. He's bad when he's healthy. But Jones is average or slightly above. He's no Mack or any other "A" grade C. He struggled at C, he was better at G. And he got "average" at C last year. That's why the Texans let him walk.

DM has talent. But he's got to have an OL. And I just wasn't that impressed with our day one that we did that much to address that (yes some, just not enough IMO). I agree DM WILL make a difference. I see it though in his ability to catch the ball.

    All speculation.

It just seems to fit. Im not the best football mind and even i saw how much a player like him would help this team. Id even cover my eyes to the price tag. If I saw it, Jrob saw it. Either that or he has a better plan than me. He mentioned several times how deep this draft is for Dline.

I get we're young. I understand we should build through the draft. But there were a couple of opportunities to help the D and LeBeau today and we either missed on them or didn't value them as such.

I'm no talent evaluator either. But I do read a lot. And when there are consensus opinions by professionals about a player, I tend to land at the mean of those professionals as credible. I think it is a bit disingenuous for folks (especially reporter like PK) to suggest that JR know better than everybody. I heard that chit about Webster EVERY damn year.

I'm just saying that IMO, JR/Titans didn't have that great of a day one. Somewhere around a C if I was grading. And I had expected a B+ or A- with all our cap space. I'd have to give the Giants an A- with what they did and they were very close to us in cap space.

Teams are spending too much money on certain players that probably haven't earned that big of a pay day yet. You build through the draft, not free agency. Teams are agreeing to contracts that seem like they should go to "defensive player of the year". Not a guy that produced 7 sacks last season. I'd prefer to spend that on someone who has proved themselves. We need help, but no need to shell out that kind of green.

Giants are spending stupidly. Harrison is a 3-4 NT playing DT in their 4-3. 1.5 sacks paying him 8-9 mil a year, out of position. Vernon? He ain't Von Miller. 5/85? What a joke.

You wanna give a NT 9 mill/yr? He doesn't player third ground! Glad we didn't get tangled up in that...

You have to ask yourself if you are willing to spend .5-1 mill/yr more then what they got and see if its worth it. Gipson is the only one I'm a bit upset about.

The Giants have lost their minds...and I LIVE in NY!!! I think the GM has been put on notice that HE should have been the one forced out for so many poor drafts that they've had to resort to blowing FA money! They overpaid for JPP and Harrison...but they went insane with the Jenkins and Vernon deals! Teams are gonna be ticked off with them and agents are loving it. How much do you think Josh Norman is gonna want considering what Jenkins just got?!?!? How much is Von Miller gonna want considering what Vernon just got?!?!?!?

The Giants have bought themselves a pretty good DL but have ridiculously overpaid for it!!!

BTW, the Giants had the 4th highest cap space I believe and quite a bit more than us. We started with about $40mil and the Giants were said to be in the upper $50's mil. That's a big difference!

Day one we walked with mathews, jones and murray. That's a big improvement for our team. We didn't spend a ton of money and still have plenty to dish out. I give a B for the day. These teams throwing big money at mid tier guys are gonna pay for it big time.

Same as every year. Mediocre players become free agents, are considered the best available and get paid like superstars.
Fans complain "why didn't my team pay $50Mil in guarantees to an average pass rusher" just to say the following year "I'm glad we did not overpay for this scrub"
Free Agency is about being smart and paying players which fit your team. Does anyone remember the Levitre signing? We threw stupid money at the best Guard available although it was pretty obvious that his strengths fit into an entirely different scheme.
Right now it seems to me that JR is making smart moves. There are still plenty of players available to improve our roster.

A few solid pick ups without breaking the bank. I'm cool with that.

Hopefully some more OL help is brought in. I know most of the top guys are probably off the market but it won't take superstars to get better than whats on the roster now. Making some lower budget moves and trying to find a good mix of guys makes sense to me
