Titans making a crucial mistake...again!

The Titans don't understand that there is a sense of urgency in trying to find a new GM and HC. I don't mean you hire the first guy you interview...I mean get going in actually interviewing people. MOST of the teams with a HC have already interviewed several candidates and one guy who deserved a good look already has a new job.

The Titans took the weekend off while other teams were interviewing. This is troubling in a few respects. First, we are more DAYS behind other teams so we will probably be way behind in the decision making process so we are likely left with only a few options (or who is still left). We may HAVE been the best option, but most candidates are not gonna give up a job offer when a team like the Titans hasn't even called for an interview.

If the Titans REALLY are trying to do their due diligence, they are failing regarding the HC search. If they already have McDaniels or Bevell targetted as the next guy, that's one thing, but they have had plenty of time to interview other candidates as a fall back and for comparison purposes. And, there is a great deal of info to be gleamed from how some of the top coaches see the Titans and their roster and what they think SHOULD be done with them. The Titans are gonna miss out on a lot of this info which can help them make better decisions!

More troubling, is the time gap simply to let the fan base's disppointment wane a bit before announcing Mularkey will be back as HC with a faux search? Austin and Marrone are real candidates but Austin runs a 4-3 D and we just got done converting to a 3-4. Marrone left his last team to get some more money.

I don't care what you think of Chip Kelly, how do you not bring in Kelly, Coughlin and a slew of others. We are not handing the job to the guy with the best record, but the guy with the best plan for the team, coaching staff, etc. Having 3 guys scheduled while other team have already interview up to 6 guys is BAD! And that leads us to my last point.

If we are the last team to get a HC, we will also be left with slim pickings for the coaching staff. This happened to Munchak and it's a real problem for first year coaches who get hired late.

Titans Front Office needs to GET GOING on these processes!!!
