Drafting based on need

left tackle would literally be the absolute dumbest thing we could do.

 

Comes down to offensive line and secondary to me. We honestly need a starter at RT, LG, & C.. plus Warmack had a pretty bad year, so potentially RG if he officially busts. Hopefully Poutassi can fill LG, but who knows. But the days better be over of seeing Griffin whiffin on a tackle or get beat deep. We desperately need a FS. McCourty & Cox are "solid" at corner, but neither are near elite. Searcy had a great year.

So it's a coin toss. They are 1a and 1b. Both must be corrected for this team to have any success next year.

 

If we run with Tunsil at #1, that kicks Lewan over to right tackle and either Bell or Poutasi into guard. With Tunsil at #1 we really upgrade 3 spots. Poutasi would do better in the guard spot as opposed to tackle and Bell kind of plays utility man up front anyway.

what happens if tubsils worse than Lewan, then lewan bounces in a year or two whenever his contracts up, then we downgraded for no reason.

 

Poutasi is clearly moving to guard no matter what. He pretty much said it after the last game.

Byron Bell is an UFA after 2015 and I would be perfectly fine kicking his slack ass to the curb.

With Tunsil at #1 we upgrade one spot, RT. No one knows if he's going to be better than Lewan at LT. I'm relatively confident in Lewan not being worse than Bell at RT.

 

I voted for OL as the biggest need though I hope we take care of that need in Free agency. There is a major lack of vet leadership on offense, especially with the OL.

 

I do not like Lewan at RT. Though he is a chippy player he is more of a finesse tackle which is generally not what you want at RT. Would rather keep Lewan at LT and get a FA RT. If FA does not work out trade out of the top 10 and take Jack Conklin from Michigan State.

 

I agree with the Lewan logic, he could stick at left, but with that being said I'm not a fan of drafting a right tackle #1 overall. We may have to look elsewhere. Good thing we have a lot of needs.
