    Yeah that's true.

I'm glad we are setting our sights high. But if we don't get DeCosta I honestly won't be too upset. I can't help but wonder how much of his reputation is just hype from being the assistant to one of the better GM's in the league. Maybe he's the real deal. But we've seen plenty of examples over the years of how success doesn't always trickle down.

This might be why we really need to focus on actual GM's and not their right hand men. We know very little about these people and what their actual function is or how much input that have in anything.

Definitely true that the assistants of great football minds don't always end up being great themselves. Basically everyone who has left the Patriots (Weiss, Crennel, McDaniels on the coaching side and Pioli on the personnel side) has been a bit of a bust.

That said... man, the Ravens are good at free agency and the draft. They hit on almost all their top picks, they find value later on and they are almost always ahead of the curve when it comes to free agency and comp picks.

The Titans suck at all of that.

You can't say for sure DeCosta is playing a major role in the Ravens' success, but the fact that other teams have tried to hire him before strongly suggests that a lot of people think he is.

The fact that the Titans are even going after him makes me feel better about the direction of the team. I honestly kind of expected them to just promote some crappy candidate from within.

To be fair about the number of pro bowlers listed previously, it's kind of skewed a bit. Doesn't mean we have a ton of talent, but there have been years where we have players that clearly should be on the pro-bowl roster but since it is essentially a popularity contest, they aren't...ie Casey and Walker.

its only partially a popularity contest, you can justify all the guys voted in

the point of the list was to show how bad our scouts and GM have been since Webster has had full control

DeCosta would be huge. Not a big chance imo

And it shouldn't be a popularity contest. There are players that have contract incentives if they make the Pro Bowl.

looks like the Browns have lured away the Mets Paul DePodesta to come run the show in Cleveland

wonder if they know the Mets play baseball

DeCosta has been running the Raven's drafts since 2005. Newsome still has final say on all picks, but I doubt DeCosta is getting vetoed left and right, otherwise why trust him to do it?

I agree. Just pointing out that there are players we've had that haven't made the probowl that should have. There is no argument for leaving Walker out of it this year other for the fact that he isn't that known playing for the Titans.
