Underwood adamant about offset clause in Mariota's deal

    The instability you mention has nothing to do with the ownership or interim CEO/President but a coaching staff, GM and players which resulted in only two wins last season.

    This franchise had a known owner and President for years and have over a decade of mediocrity to show for it.

    Do you really need me to go over how a NFL franchise works? C'mon.

    Point being: just because the President is an interim doesn't mean he's not an upgrade over what this team had just a year ago. Underwood had a big role with the franchise when it was competitive.

    And the old rep this team had for years being stingy came from its well-known owner. So I don't see why anyone would think knowing a lot or little about the current ownership has any impact on this situation.

    Completely disagree. This is a minor issue. Fans and media are making it more than it really is. It's not as if the Titans are low balling him on his rookie deal; the titans are going to pay him 25 ish million dollars - most of which will come in the form of a bonus the day he signs.

    I honestly think Mariota doesn't care. I think this is his agent(s) saying "let us fight for you on this." In the end, the agent works for the player and what the player says, goes. If Mariota says get the deal done, they'll get it done.

    I just think the un stability you see in the player personal department is more of a holistic problem of the organization and not isolated to that one department.

    As for the President. No ones knows if Underwood will be here tomorrow. Why? Because he is interim. Does that exude stability?

    Stability at the top hasn't guaranteed success as this franchise has well-proven.

    I don't know how long you've been following this franchise but people knowing the ownership and having an interim President is the least of its problems right now.

    Don't you mean the exact opposite?

    It's Mariota that wants to be paid twice if he fails in TN. If he's gonna be so good, why would he care about offset language???

    You clearly only follow college ball and not the NFL. I guess if you are suggesting Mary is weakminded like VY, then yes this will be a problem.

    If he is a professional, and if he is an elite QB, then this won't make any difference at all in the long run. Not one bit. This thread and the entire topic will be completely forgotten.
