Appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, the Philly Inquirer's Jeff McLane stated that he expects the Eagles to try to move up for Oregon QB Marcus Mariota in the draft.

This isn't the first we've heard of Chip Kelly's love for his college quarterback. "Unless I'm missing something here," said McLane, "the Eagles are going to do whatever it takes to get him." Acquiring Mariota would likely cost the Eagles most of their 2015 draft class, but would be well worth it if Mariota solves their quarterback problem. Philadelphia currently holds the No. 20 overall pick. They'll likely have to get into the top five, jumping the quarterback-needy Jets at No. 6.

    And this:

At the Combine Wednesday, GM Ruston Webster stopped short of committing to Zach Mettenberger as the Titans' 2015 starter.

Webster said "we like the player, we like Zach," but stated the Titans are "not committing to anything now." Armed with the No. 2 overall pick, the Titans have no incentive to show their hand before the draft. Their roster is the weakest in football and they should be hoping to trade down. All indications out of Nashville are that the Titans plan to start Mettenberger in 2015.

My bet would be Philly would wait to pull the trade and do not look to trade for #2. If Mariota falls past #6 (Jets) then they may be able to trade up for him. The next team that would look at QB isn't until Rams (#10) or Cle (#12). Would be way easier for Philly to trade for #9 than it would be #2. Heck, would be easier for them to trade for #5 right before NYJ than #2. We have to convince the media that we love Mariota and drive that price up.

    Here's another article I found:
    http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/2/16/8043469/2015-nfl-mock-draft-marcus-mariota-philadelphia-eagles

Not sure how credible the writer is, but he suggests a trade of: "Tennessee gets Philadelphia’s entire draft and a first-round pick in 2016."

That would leave us with: 20, 33, 62, 66, 84, 97, 110, 130, 148, 161, 180, and 192 in this draft. (#s in bold are Eagles picks). Then, we'd also have 2 1sts in the '16 draft. That's hard for me to turn down, we need help EVERYWHERE and this allows us to fill many, if not all, of those needs. If Eagles are that obsessed w/ Mariota, i'd try to pickup Foles too.

I had this converation with @SARACCO last night, and if it presented itself, we have to pull the trigger..

Browns want Foles tho, makes me really wonder what we could do if we got Philly's draft and Foles then turn around and deal him to Cleveland for another 1st.

fowler would be more like a ware/kruger type player where he rarely drops into coverage. He has a constant motor and will be even better with a few more moves in his arsenal. Fowler will be the best edge rusher from this draft I believe, I wouldnt be mad at all if we took Fowler with our pick

My bet is it would be #2 for Phillys entire draft & '16 1st. Philly keeps Foles, then deals him to Cleveland for #19. So Chip gets his QB & they still have a 1st. If Philly hits on Mariota, that puts them in SB contention IMO.

I'd love to get Foles and have him battle with Mett for the starting spot. But, I wouldn't hold up on a potential #2 for Phillys entire draft & '16 1st trade because Philly refuses to include Foles. We could walk away with:

20: Trae Waynes, CB, Mich St
    33: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Mizzou
    62: Nate Orchard, OLB, Utah
    66: Lake Tomlinson, OG, Duke
    84: Hauoli Kikaha, OLB, Washington
97: Jesse James, TE, Penn St
    110: David Cobb, RB, Minnesota
    130: Rob Havenstein, OT, Wisconsin
    148: Ellis McCarthy, NT, UCLA
    161: Clayton Geathers, SS, UCLA
    180: Justin Manton, K, Lousiana-Monroe
    192: Kenny Bell, WR, Nebraska

That's SO much young talent, could still add some key FAs like Devin McCourty, Dan Williams, etc AND would have 2 first rounders in 2016. Also gives us ability to trade up in about every round, if wanted. For example, 84 + 97 would net us a late 2nd, so we'd walk away with 5 picks in the Top-70. Possibilities are endless. It's a once in a generation trade, but if one franchise has the balls to pull the trade, it's the Eagles FO and Chip Kelly.

I'm pretty much already crying. I know it wont, not to the Titans... haha. But we'd literally have TWO drafts built into one. We'd be adding 12 rookies onto this team, being as how we'll miss on atleast 8 of them, we'll get 4 new starters! :beerbang:

Browns have also just stated that they are going into FA and the draft needing another QB besides Jonny Rehab. Rams are also letting Bradford Agent look for a trade. A bidding war may be heating up between Browns, Eagles, Rams, and Jets. I like that a lot.
