That might just be a byproduct of watching Titans football...

I would argue that football is more entertaining than ever. I fully admit to loving the wide open passing game. Running for "three yards and a cloud of dust" every play is far more boring. Penalties don't really bother me.

If the Titans were winning, people here wouldn't be claiming football is dying.

I wouldn't say the number of penalties... but some things that have BECOME penalties has shoved me into the disgruntled corner...

The thing that bothers me about the new rules are that you can see DBs not playing as tightly (Especially on the Titans) because they are afraid of penalties. I love defense. I would rather watch a great defensive performance that a 50 to 40 easy scoring game. I like DBs who play the pass physically, LBers who get to the QB, & DTs that jar the RB at the line. It seems like the rules are obviously in the favor of the offense. It is much harder to get INTs, & battle for the ball when you literally cannot touch a WR. It's a joke really.

That is where opinions vary. I like watching defenses attack. I like sacks, INTs, and dominant Dlines. That is something I do not get to see much of as a Titans fan, but when I watch other games I would rather see two defenses perform than a 50-40 easy scoring game. Penalties slow down the game. Seems like you would not like the stop in action.

I dont know if it is necessarily killing the NFL but they are certainly changing the game a little faster than most people care for. I wouldnt be surprised if I lived to see the day when QBs arent allowed to be tackled and receivers wore shock sensors that draw a penalty if they are hit too hard

I feel like the way the game is being called with the touchy downfield stuff causes me to not like the game as much. I'd like the cornerbacks to have a little more advantage in the rules. I noticed earlier in the year that I wasn't into games as much, and think the new rules in the secondary contributed to that.

I do think it makes sense to protect QB, although the automatic calls on any contact to the helmet is too much. The NFL game is terrible with backup quarterbacks.* And about 10 teams don't even have a legitimate starter so that says something.

(*unless the backup QB is playing the Titans then they tend to look good).
