As a Titan, defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks developed a reputation for being a scrappy player in the trenches, but a fund-loving guy off the field.

On Sunday, as a member of the Jaguars, Marks will return to LP Field to face his old team. In a conference call with reporters who cover the Titans, Marks kidded he’d like to line up across from Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews, the team’s offensive line coach. He also said he wanted a piece of punter Brett Kern, the team’s best golfer, on the golf course.

Needless to say, he’s looking forward to facing his old teammates. In reality, the three interior starters Marks butted heads with in practice are now gone, replaced by rookies Chance Warmack and Brian Schwenke, and guard Andy Levitre. He remembers right tackle David Stewart well, though.

“Me and Country (Stewart) used to always have some pretty good heated practices, and we used to get at it,’’ Marks said. “First of all, Country is a good friend of mine, but for some reason he always wanted to mess with me at practice. That would be a good key going into this game, but other than that, I’m just going to go out and play my game and play within the defense.”

Marks, who started 26 of 51 games for the Titans from 2009-2012 before signing with the Jaguars in the offseason, has played well in Jacksonville. He’s also played a ton – 463 of the team’s 544 snaps in the first eight games.

Marks said he enjoyed his time with the Titans. Early last offseason the Titans indicated they wanted to bring Marks back, but never offered a contract that met his expectations. The team ended up signing free agent Sammie Hill, and Marks eventually landed in Jacksonville.

“Everything I got from them was that they wanted to go bigger at the position—that’s why they went out and got Sammie Hill. I was cool with what happened,’’ Marks said. “The only thing I wish would have happened is they would have just told me that, ‘Hey, we want to go big at the nose guard position.’ I’m cool with it.

“Other than that, no hard feelings. I really do appreciate the organization because they gave me an opportunity, they drafted me, and they gave me a chance. No hard feelings toward them.”

I already had forgotten about this loser. Glad he's making such a big impact on his winless 0-8 team.
