Maybe...But he sure as hell wouldn't have tackled him. Neon Deion wasn't going to hit anyone, might scratch you when you ran by him as he was getting blocked.

The eras are not that far off. Not like he said Night Train Lane could cover him.

    Calvin Johnson > Jerry Rice.

Put Jerry Rice in today's league and he wouldn't be as good. Put Calvin in Jerry's league, and he would be even better.

Just sayin'... the talent today is so much better as a whole.

That can be debated.. the NFL needs players that can do things differently i think than old school teams did.. maybe not necessarily better. Bigger and stronger used to be the focal point, now there is speed to account for as well. For instance, when I think of old school line backers and running backs.. there is a huge difference between then and now. Those two positions used to be all power and a linebacker could twist you up like a pretzel no harm no foul. No-a-days they have all these rules to abide by. Dick Butkus, for example, would have never made it in today's league and many of the faster linebackers today may have had problems dealing with strength/weight/power back then.

I tend to agree that players today are overall "better".. but that could just be present day bias talking..

No way prime time covers Megatron. It just wouldn't happen.

Just saying THAT doesn't make it so...what "proof" do you have of this statement? I would counter with Rice did what he did in a NFL that actually allowed the D to hit, if you came over the middle you were going to get lit up by a safety, now it is almost two hand touch. Different game, different rules.

Don't forget that not only are players today faster, they actually are actually bigger and stronger than their predecessors. Brandon Jacobs is bigger, and faster than any running back I can remember from the past era and while he does truck people left and right, he is by no means unstoppable.

Physicality aside players from today just understand the game better on average. The previous generation has done a great job of passing down the knowledge they acquired to these current players and it really shows. IMO there are always gonna be guys like Deion who could've played in any era but it's best to just judge guys by their time periods. The game is too diffeent now.
