It will be interesting to see what happens when Wilson takes Pollard's starting spot!

No matter where he’s been in the NFL, safety Bernard Pollard made his voice heard, whether his teammates and coaches liked it or not.

In his first year with the Titans, his defensive teammates have voted him a captain.

“I embrace being a voice,” Pollard said. “I have been in four places and sometimes coaches like what I say, and sometimes coaches don’t like what I say. I have learned over the years how to say things, when to say things.

“I know where the line is now. I have been around the block, and I am getting older. And when you get older you get wiser. I am grateful for the position I am in. I’m thankful to have been voted one of the captains.”

The eighth-year pro is one of six Titans captains for 2013. Offensive captains are quarterback Jake Locker, wide receiver Nate Washington and tackle Michael Roos. Special teams captain is Patrick Bailey. The other defensive captain is cornerback Jason McCourty.

Coach Mike Munchak called McCourty, who was also a captain last year, “a rock. He’s a guy who is consistent every single day and is a great example to everyone on the team.”

Each team is allowed to select a maximum of six captains, Munchak said.

“These are guys who’ve been stepping up since we got together in April and we have a nice mixture of guys,’’ Munchak said. “We have a lot of personalities, different types of guys and you need a lot of leaders. They will help us continue to grow as a team.”

I actually think we'll be seeing a lot of 3 safety sets w/ Pollard more in the box & Griff + Wilson in coverage.

I'm ok with the selections. What I hope for more than anything is that this defense really does toughen up. A lot has been made about how Williams has brought a toughness back to the defense. I hope that's true. We've got a lot of talent and I really hope they step it up. I hope to see a lot of blitzing and sacking the sh!+ out of QBs.

I know Pollard is a captain and technically the starter, but based on pre-season play I really hope Wilson sees more action... I like Pollard in the role of captain, but as more of just a vocal presence and tone setter....

I don't know how many times I guaranteed Nate would be here this season and everyone swarmed me and said I clearly didn't know what I was talking about because the signing of Kevin Walter pretty much signaled the end of Nate's career in TN. Lmao... this stuff was literally said. And then when Justin Hunter was drafted you had even more people saying Nate was a goner. Do the math, folks... we aren't very good at WR without Nate. Letting him go would be on the same level as not signing Finnegan.

It's a business... Just because you attempt to trade a player doesn't mean you hate him and want him gone.

I think he'll be okay once he gets into the groove of things, and remember... We will run a fair number of 3 safety sets.

I bet Pollard comes up big against the Steelers and lays some of those bonecrushing hits on those Pissburgh clowns.
