My other novel is a sci-fi steampunk Civil War fantasy where the CSA discovers a lost world of dinosaurs in the swamps of Mississippi and Louisiana. They outfit them for war and turn the tide against the Union with Robert E Lee marching into DC riding a Tyrannosaurus rex. Lincoln calls upon his best friend Karl Marx and together they drive back the CSA and their dinosaurs in steam powered mech suits.

Guns of the South. Might be one of the worst books I’ve ever tried to read.

Just finished reading this book. Probably one of the better books I’ve read in a while. Not perfect but definitely unique and a fun read.

    Galaxy Blues by Allen Steele

This is the 5th of 7 Coyote novels I own... ok where to start.

We follow a new character who is a political refugee from Earth... and a huge baseball fan, and they do play baseball on Coyote. The Colonial University Battlin' Boids ( Beak'em Boids!) played the Peoples Enlightenment Through the Spirit of Social Collectivism University Fighting Swampers - LOL The Swampers sucked because they choose their starters by who is the most politically correct

anyways back to synopsis - This book is by far the weakest of the 5 Coyote books I have read. Steele crutches on what has always been a total turnoff for me. The 50s SciFi cheat of psychics. I mean uuuuggghhh REALLY Allen!

anyways that aside the story was essentially an introduction to Steele's version of the Federation of Planets....

I mean I will read everything Coyote because the first 4 books were a complete story and were pretty real amazing. Totally recommended but this thing... man its only for the fans...

if this story was the first Allen Steele I had ever read it would be the last Allen Steele I ever read

The Complete Conan Saga by Robert E. Howard

written in depression era America Howards original Conan was not what you remember from the Govenator movies. This Conan did not have a code and would in fact punch a chick if that is what needed done.

The book contains all Conan related Howard stories. 17 short stories, a poem, an essay & a novella. Glorious.

I quite enjoyed the Not PC Conan. All the crap about Howard being racist is overblown... race is integral to the background of The Hyborian Age and race is mentioned... but these are not our races... just use the same colors - LOL

the short stories were serialized in Weird Tales between 1932 and 1936

Howard committed suicide after the death of his mother when he was 30

REH was not the greatest writer, but Conan is one of the greatest characters ever

    Coyote Horizon by Allen Steele

Book 6 of the Coyote series is redemptive in many ways. Major character arcs are completed. Story threads are ended. But the main thing this book does is explains the logic behind using psychics. Turns out people not born this way but unique to Coyote natural occurances combined with old earth discipline can allow people to exploit their natural psychic powers - still uuuuggghhhh Allen, but at least there are not randoms running around bending guns with their minds and shyt.

This part of the Coyote story ends many things for the characters we have followed. While leaving many issues to be explored going forward.

This book made up for the dud that was book 5.

Psychics aside anyone interested in hard SciFi will enjoy Coyote.
