Mariota might be done. His arm looks completely shot. Maybe it's the injuries, maybe he just lost confidence. His passes were off the mark and had absolutely no velocity on them. If that's just who he is now, tannehill is a better passer and it's not even close.

Maybe, but also maybe (and even I will say it), there werent many better options than Mariota available. Keeping him one more year allows us to go after what we hope will be a franchise qb next draft.

Before saying this, I want it emphasize that I'm just a random yahoo on the internet with an opinion. I'm not a scout.

I just went back and watched highlights again just to make sure I still had the same opinion. The guy looks different to me in the pocket his first two season and his last two. Not his footwork/mechanics. His mannerisms just look different.

Not saying he was great his first two seasons either. He had problems then too.

Again though, I am not a scout.

I also think if were looking at finding a QB for next year, they wouldn't have traded for a good backup/borderline starter. That'll just give us a better chance at a lower draft pick.

I think they believe that they can fix him.

I didnt see what I wanted out of Mariota last night but I'm also just riding the season out to see what happens.

We know what happens. He gets hurt by week 5 and Tannehill era starts. I like how everyone compared Tannehill to MM and say they the same person. They are both injury prone but one is a passer and the other is a mobile Qb. 2 different type of players.

Truth is even though it was limited minutes for MM but like mentioned before the mechanics were off. I saw Hill stay in the pocket and trust his OL which MM does not do. U cant argue the ball movement wasnt better with Hill in there. Argue he threw against 2nd stringers but he also played with 2nd stringers and made it look easy. This team looks better with a pocket passer which we have tried to make MM be. He gets nervous in the pocket and looks to escape cause thats what he is a mobile QB.

I think the last time I wasn't worried when a back up came in... was ODonnell/McNair

    wait, scratch that.... Volek/McNair

Wow, that little faith in Rusty.

But seriously, the CK and VY years were 50/50. Either could have started and nothing would drop off if the backup came back in.
