I have trouble with the steakhouse issue. I worked at a Ruth's Chris for 9 months at the end of my restaurant career, and I've been to at least one of all of the chains. There just isn't anything really special about any of them to me. I'll go to Morton's for happy hour because they have great apps for $5, but I'm still paying out the butt for the drinks.

If you've got Prime meat, that's great, and worth paying more for, but I can get Prime meat at home and make a steak that's just as good. There's very little skill or creativity involved in a steak house, so I'm rarely willing to do it. When you're in the mood though, I get it.

    Is Fat Mo's still open?

    And no one's mentioned SATCO?

Donut Den in Green Hills is the bomb for pastries.

Jimmy Kelly's, Kobe's, Sperry's, and Stoney River are my personal favorites.

There are two Fat Mo's (that I know of) that are still open... one on White Bridge; one on where Franklin Rd changes to 12th or 15th St. (not sure exactly what the street is).

SATCO is really good, but it absolutely destroys my insides.

Donut Den is great, but don't go there when HHS lets out for the day. You might get knifed.

I really really really like Vittles for country fried steak. There may be some better at other places in town, but I go to Vittles and get it every single time.

Caribbean - Calypso Cafe (2) Elliston Pl, Harding Rd - I think they have a third location too

Wings - Nuttin But Wings on Jefferson St - lots of Titans & former Titans go there

    Home cooking/Southern/Meat & three - Swett's (2) 28th at Clifton (restaurant) & Farmers Market (kiosk)
Wendell Smith's on Charlotte used to be pretty good but quality went down with turnover in personnel - might have gotten better since then

Mexican - Cinco de Mayo on White Bridge Rd - Lots of choices on menu, more parking than Las Palmas

Oriental - August Moon off Hillsboro Rd in Green Hills

Burgers - goTitans.com tailgate - the price is right and the company is great :tailgate:
