There has always been a debate who has the "original" Hot Chicken. Prince's or Bolton's. The legend goes that "Prince's" wife found out he was cheating on her so to get back at him, when she made his favorite meal of fried chicken, she spiced it super hot to get back at him. He loved it. Now some claim that when Prince's first open, the main cook was Bolton who left and took his original recipe and opened up his own place. Either way, those are the 2 places you want to hit. Not saying they are the best (damn close) but they are the standards. Nashville Hot Chicken has been around for decades. Growing up here, I never referred to it as Nashville Hot Chicken, it was just "Prince's Hot Chicken". It hasn't been a thing until Nashville became the "it" city. There are plenty of good places to try: Hattie B's, 400 Degrees, Big Shakes (in franklin). Standard hot chicken comes with a piece of white bread, then chicken on top of it with pickles on the side. Don't overlook the fish. Hot catfish (or whitefish) is stellar, imo.

Now Shake's shrimp burgers...not sure about that ;)

I don't know if could ever say anything is way better than buffalo wings. They are so easy. One stick butter and a bottle of Louisiana or red hot sauce.

Hot chicken is less messy but in the case of Buffalo wings it's good messy. That sauce is crazy.

I tried the hot tenders at KFC. Better than the 2 piece but the spices were not distributed well enough. Some bites were hotter than others.

I read that the testing for kfc hot chicken was done in the Pittsburgh market and it was the most successful testing they ever had. They are selling a lot of this hot chicken and it might become permanent on the menu.

In Columbia we are 40 minutes from real hot chicken and 25 minutes from the nearest popeyes so i need that.

KFC Nashville Hot Chicken [Review] - Fast Food Geek

Here is a very positive review of the KFC hot chicken.

I have read several reviews and most people who are not familiar with hot chicken like it. The hot chicken veterans from Nashville are the ones who bash it.

To me it's a extra optional thing that's available just down the street. Like the wings at Pizza hut or Zaxbys. The KFC is not far, now in addition to extra crispy and original recipe and hot wings i have the hot chicken and like a heroin addict i need my fix!!!!!

Seriously, almost everything by comparison tastes like dry toast compared to hot chicken.

There were three here...two of them folded. I feel like there was a fourth one in the local shopping center but I could be wrong.
