These arguments that the Titans are a winning team with Mariota are the exact same arguments that VY supporters used all the time - and STILL use sometimes: "He's got a 30-17 record as a starter. All he does is win." As if the team around him, including a stellar defense had nothing to do with it.

 

Difference is VY overachieved, Mary is 500 for a reason, his record defines him perfectly.

Funny thing is Mary is a better QB but has a worse win percentage.

 

Time to face the facts...Mariota is often injured, and inconsistent. Plain and simple. 5 years in almost and he is still gun shy, doesn’t read a defense well, and refuses to get rid of the ball. More importantly, he doesn’t elevate others...(reason DW is his quote go to)...I’m sick of it. 11 TD’s in one f ing year....

 

Wait what? Are you sure you want to go down the avenue of comparing VY and Mariota?

Can Mary be a Kirk Cousins?

Most people think Kirk Cousins isn't very good, but he is top 10 in pretty much every meaningful QB metric. There are probably 25 quarterbacks in the league that could be a top 10 guy with improved circumstances and some slight improvements to their game.

That quote is super misleading though. Sure, I'd like to see Mariota play another 15 seasons as a Titan..... If he got healthy and became a great QB. JR worded that in such a way that you can't take anything from it. If Mariota could get over the injury issues, which is possible; see Safford, and start to consistently play at a high level that he has at times, then sure you'd want him here. But that is a lot of IF's, and unlikely. But JR has to be behind his QB, until he's no longer his QB.

 

Mariota's stats are better than VY and Steve's but those stats are misleading because IMO he's not better than either of them. He stats just seem more impressive because of the era he's playing in. He can't hold VY's much less Steve's jock. AND to top it off, he's a puss.

 

So tell me @VondyP what makes Marcus better than VY or Steve?
