Fisher's only real mistake was not being decisive with either benching or supporting Vince. Really that is what created a lot of the controversy. On the other hand though, I believe that Fisher wanted to definitively bench Vince but Bud Adams loved Vince and wouldn't let him. Bud cut Fisher's legs out from under him in the VY situation.

The owner had his back and Vince used it to his advantage. Why listen to a coach you don't like when the man who cuts the checks loves you and will take your side? It takes a lot of character and maturity to not take advantage of a situation like that and Vince just didn't have it at the time.

That did happen, but dbc was so quick to run up and collect the shaving for dinner that we all missed it.

His mustache is like Santa's beard, shave it, and it grows back in 20 seconds. I've heard rumors that his mustache glows at night and can speak Spanish.

I disagree. He didn't set him up to fail however he didn't maximize his potential either. As a professional coach is it always stupid to set a player up for failure. Especially one who has more pull with your boss than you do. It's no secret that VY was not Fisher's type of QB but I have no doubt Fisher tried his best to win with Vince. The issue was that Fisher wasn't willing to change his system to suit VY and that was the only way to get the most out of him.

However I do remember that towards the end of VY's time Fisher kinda gave in and started tailoring the offense more to Vince's strengths, that's when we were most successful. But then came the injury and Vince's emotional instability. I loved Fisher, still do and if those two could have co-existed we would have been a damn good team. It's too bad the male ego is so overpowering.

Fisher wouldnt let him go back in to the game. If you were the starter and you were hurt but wanted to go back into the game to show toughness and leadership because everyone was calling you a pus** would you not be pissed that your coach would not let you go back in!

I've heard Fisher talk about NFL QB's on TV, and when asked if Vince is doing all the right things to be an NFL QB, Fisher didn't say yes or no, he went on to spell it out for people (Vince Young).

I thought that was a nice subtle way of telling Vince he needed to pick it up if he wanted to remain an NFL QB.

Now tell me how many of them were hyped as the next Jesus coming out of high school.

The Lakers still have to play basketball. Stern doesn't cheat for them THAT much.

But see what you and Vince don't get is that it's not his call the to make. Like it or not it is a Coach's decision whether or not to let a hurt player back into the game. What if Fisher felt Vince was so hurt that it would hurt the team? Wouldn't the right call for the good of the team (not the glory or ego of Vince Young) be to keep him on the bench? Of course it is.

Humble players understand that players play and coaches coach. Vince forgot that. You don't have to agree with the coach but it is your duty as a team mate and professional to comply. Alex Smith got benched last year while playing the best football of his life on a team he knew was something special and he handled it with as much class as anyone possibly could. That is what VY lacked. The maturity and humility to handle adversity. I know you're a huge fan, so was I but we have to tell the truth about things.

This is why people on here stick up for Locker, because he seems like the kind of guy who is mature enough to handle adversity and has good upside. Locker is the kind of guy that if he doesn't make it big it won't be for a lack of trying. In a year or two we'll definitively know who Jake Locker is. 6 years after being drafted we're still sitting here wondering what Vince Young could have been.

A hurt vince is better than a healthy collins at that point in his career or a healthy Rusty Smith!

What you don't get is that if Vince didnt play that game people would be saying he's lost it mentally, he's a bit**, he's over there pouting wanting to committ suicide etcc.. He wanted to play to prove to peole that he was tough and that he was not pouting. Do you think if Steve McNair would have told Fisher that he was able to go back in the game that Fisher would have said no? I dont think so. You need to open your flippin eyes man!!!!
