Someone had asked him if he wished they would cut back on the academic requirements and Franklin said no. He said one of his favorite things about Vandy is their academic standards. He doesn't want to deal with the dumb*sses that most schools deal with.

Personally I don't care if the players are paid... depending on how important they are to the university.

RG3 made Baylor so much money. Cam did the same for Auburn. I don't think it's ridiculous for them to get something in return.

They don't even make money off their own jerseys being sold. I mean c'mon... at least let them have that.

Most athletes are not financially stable. They need some sort of income beyond just a full ride... unless full rides will cover housing, food, and gas.

-Companies should not be able to benefit from the players. No jerseys, no shirts, nothing. They can continue to make apparel for the athletics program but nothing to do with the athletes should be allowed.

-Schools need to continue the 1 year scholarship deals. This keeps the players working hard and playing at their highest level on the field, giving someone a guarantee might cause some slack off both on the field and in the class room.

-If an athlete goes down, it's on the University to cover costs. They're representing your school, helping win games, and make money. They should be liable for their health.

I mean that's three key points right there that need to happen/continue to happen. Players are already getting a free education, free housing, meals, a chance to improve and tryout at a professional level, and basically any perk you can imagine on campus. For basically four years they're getting what other students can get with an education but a better lifestyle and oh they could actually continue to play at a higher level.

Now let's address the whole cheating situation. Every school, no matter how big or small, cheats at some level to get an advantage. Whether it's in a student account, cash, special perks with higher up people in their area, etc. It happens. If you think you're school is completely clean you're naive and have your head in the sand. Even if their was a payment program, someone is always going to cheat. Opening the door for players to actually receive money is possibly the worst move imaginable, specifically football. This creates so many more possibilities of players getting illegal benefits. More than they're supposed to get, cash to other parties, cars, jewelry, tats, etc. This already isn't allowed and we've already seen examples of this happen, now imagine actually paying them.

If we're talking football, then sure there are some unstable homes but overall it's not as much as you would think. Full rides don't cover gas but they cover everything for school, housing, and food.

The last three coaches who have been fired by Auburn were paid off to sign in NDA. Happens all the time in the corporate world. We have had some managers paid to sign an NDA when they were fired. But not the kind of thing you would expect from college athletics.

It should be expected when it is a major sports league.

It isn't if it is still a collection of schools playing amateur ball.
