Seems really cheap if you ask me. He's getting about $4 million from the Eagles this year, but the 49ers are just paying like $1.35 base and he can get another $1.65 in incentives.

I think our FO has done an outstanding job this offseason but CB is a clear need and it seems we could have offered just a little bit more to land him, at least offered more than one year. Maybe he took a lower amount to go to a contender but I was just surprised it was so low. Granted he didn't play well in Philly, but I think that's more because of the way they used him.

What say you? Should we have tried to pursue him and paid say, $2 million base, $2 million in incentives for 2 years (just throwing out random numbers that are higher than what he got).

I think this money, although small, would have been wasted. Corners are a product of scheme and the talent around them. Very, very rarely will one switch teams and continue to perform at a high level.

We also don't have the pass rush to be spending money on a corner. I think we would have just really tossed it away.

That's exactly why. He wanted to be on a team that is a perennial SB contender right now. He's older and doesn't have the time for a rebuilding team.

These elite guys who never got a ring always want to enjoy playing and winning on the biggest stage before its all said and done, so I don't think we ever had a chance to realistically land him....

Word is Nnamdi said "don't pay me any guaranteed money"

That's not common to hear a player say, even when they are getting paid by their old team.

Also, yea he probably did take less to go to the Niners, wouldn't you? That team has been in back to back NFC Title games, and the last Super Bowl.

Nnamdi has wasted his whole career with lousy teams. He's ready to win.

I agree totally with this. Spending on a "shutdown" corner in today's NFL is stupid. With the rules the way they are corners and their production are product of a "putting the QB on his ass" Dline. Something we do not have a the moment.

Plus, with Nnamdi, he's from the Bay Area so he really wanted to go to SF, it would've taken a lot more than their offer.
