    Morgan is mediocre.

And regardless of if you disagree- not one person here can claim he's justified being taken 1st round with his play.

Sacks is an overrated statistic, you don't have to get 10+ sacks a season to be effective. Sure it looks nice in the box score but if you can get pressure on the QB to force a bad throw, take a loss, get the offense out of sync then that's a win. A player can rack up 10 sacks but do nothing else or he can get around 8, always be disruptive, help against the run, and create constant pressure throughout the game, which do you take?

He doesn't do anything but be dependable to do ok and never show up to do something special.

Being "solid" isn't something that's going to generate any praise. And we definitely didn't draft him to be an OK player.

I think the biggest problem with our line is that they are all labeled as solid, when they are all in fact below average.

7th best DE my butt. They probably think Flacco is an elite QB too.

I was torn between Morgan and JPP in 2010. Once the Giants took JPP, I definitely wanted Morgan and was happy we picked him.

Unfortunately, he's nowhere near the player JPP is.

In 2009, I wanted Nicks and only Nicks. When the Giants took him, I was insanely pissed. I was also pissed we took Britt. Usually when I'm pissed at a draft pick of ours, they are guaranteed to be a bust or suck in some way.

As I've said in the past... F the Giants. We'd be in great shape with Nicks and JPP.

I agree that sacks can be an overrated statistic, but QB pressures are just as overrated.

Morgan may rank high in QB pressures, but there are DEs that when put in his position don't just pressure the QB - they take them down.

Does anyone know if a sack would also go down as a QB pressure? If not, you might have guys like Peppers, for example, ranking lower in QB pressures than Morgan because they're racking up sacks and less QB pressures. They also demand more double teams and may not be consistently getting pressure on QBs.

Bottom line... Gotta look at the tape (as Norm Chow would say) and ignore the statistics.

The good QBs will also make those throws through pressure, finish the play. Forced fumbles don't matter unless you recover them and near picks don't matter unless you catch it.

Just like pressures don't matter if Brady steps up in the pocket and completes a pass. Finish the play, make them lose some yards, and make them lose a down.

Sacks are definatly overated in the Titan D scheme.

getting a 6 yard SAC on 2nd and 6 then giving up 20+ on third and 12 makes SACs way less valuable

It was a brilliant game plan. Intentionally lose yards to set up 2nd, 3rd and longs to pull the Titans awful passing defense on the field.
