Why did we not trade for Harvin?

The appeal of giving up draft picks for a player like Harvin is his youth. At 24 he is almost as young as the guy we will be drafting in those rds but unlike any draft pick he is a known commodity.

The vikings traded their 25th pick and a 7th rd pick with a conditional mid rd pick next year. I'm thinking we could have gotten Harvin for our 39th, a higher 7th and Washington with our 4th from next year.

Trading Washington cuts the cap hit from Harvin's contract in half for 13 and 14 and makes the deal appealing to the Vikings because suddenly they are in need of a play maker outside for Ponder.

Harvin's deal is for almost $10M a year but it is for 7 years and given his age he can be good for all those years. A nice compliment to Britt and Wright he also can do things out of the backfield which softens the blow of losing CJ next year if we decide to do that.

Just wondering. The 2nd rd is a likely rd for drafting a WR and Harvin would have looked nice in a titans uniform.

Remember that a deal with the vikings could have also involved us not giving up any picks at all but rather swapping our 10th for their 23rd and then also throwing Washington in.

So we could have had Harvin and also a 23rd and 39th pick to address issues on the team. Cooper or Fluker could be there at 23, one of them anyway and we still have the 39th to perhaps get a CB like Rhodes.

Could have worked out great for us and a 23rd pick would have been cheaper from acontract perspective than a 10th pick.

Because it wouldn't be ideal to have two receivers on our roster with the same skill set. If Britt came along like it should have and we didn't take Wright I would be all for it. Its just hard to justify having two receivers who excel in the same aspects.

I wouldn't want Harvin on my team because of the headaches he can create with his greater than thou attitude and because of his headache history. I don't even think about giving a guy who has had major concussion issues a long term deal.

Because we're not a WR away from being a Super Bowl team. The Seahawks are.

He didn't want to play for the Titans and he would have caused a ton of crap as a result as others have said. His top three choices were Seahawks, 49ers and one other really good team (Patriots I think?) so not worth it for the Titans.

Harvin has missed 25% of his potential starts for a variety of reasons and he still has not had a 1000 yard season. He is getting paid like a guy with 3 1000 yard seasons.

As for the hand picked team he plays on he still has to fight Tate and Rice for the ball on a team that likes to be balanced and run the football. Rice as the number one receiver last year was targeted just 80 times.
