I believe ours were included in the figures this year when the season ended. It was automatically "carried over"

I was asking about it somewhere else and a few people chimed in and basically told me the same thing.

Im not a draft person, or a salary cap person, so I generally stay out of it but I felt comfortable with who I heard it from.

So before FA started, I think the Titans had about $117M counting towards the cap for 2013 (not sure if this was before or after Wilson/Bironas/other signings/cuts) but that was out of a total Cap limit of $123M for 2013. So had we not carried over our cap, we would've had only $6M in cap space. But we didn't have $6M, we had like $18M in cap space. So that $18M in cap space included the $6M we were below the cap + $12M in carry over cap from 2012.

My understanding was you have to notify the league that you wish to activate the carry over clause. Perhaps they have yet to do so pending further cuts or signings. I think the carry over period is three years. I will check and post back.

Re-read the article. It states that the Titans have 12.8 million in carry dollars IF they choose to activate it. All the figures posted are for carry over dollars. Washington and Dallas are in the negative as they were penalized by the league. Webster said we had roughly 5 million. That would be excluding the carry over. What I am not sure of, is when a team has to activate the clause - before the start of free agency? The only team I have heard who did activate the carry over was KC.

We still have Amano & Hawkins to cut, thaty'll free up $4mil instantly. Webster stated we still have around 5mil to spend (before the Turner signing) so 3.5mil. If we do the cuts, we should have $7.5mil... not sure if that 5mil included space for rookies.

Yes, but we saved that much money by switching the backup QB's. Turner shouldn't have cost us anything.

Unfortunately I dont see us cutting Amano. We may cut Hawkins though if we draft someone we like!
