Lets be honest, why would Dumervil want to play for us?

Once again I think we all look at how much we want him, and also taking into consideration the low amount of teams interested, and think we have a great chance at getting this guy. However I always think outside of our bias opinions and what we want. Even if we are able to offer Dumervil the biggest contract of any team, like we supposedly did with Welker, what's stopping him from going to a SB contender. We obviously cant offer him that. We can only offer him the fattest contact(maybe) and appreciation. We can salivate over his talent and how much he could bolster our defense, But is that really what he wants. He could be the "guy" for just about any team in the NFL right now so it isnt like we are giving him special treatment. On top of that he knows he isnt getting any younger and I am sure he is in a win now attitude.
So I want an honest unbiased opinion. Why in the world would he want to play for us?

    Money.

That is all that matters. The Ravens aren't a contender anymore, so there'd virtually be no difference in signing with us over them.

Denver would be the best team for him, but he will likely get more money elsewhere.

If his biggest concern was being on a SB contending team, he would have taken the pay cut to stay in Denver. They have as good a chance as anyone to take it this year so why leave? I think he wants money, a team that will show him the respect he feels he deserves, and a chance to win in that order. Our FO will make sure he sees all the moves we're making and how young our team is. Some guys like the idea of being THAT guy who pushes a team no one expected towards greatness. Good character guys are often like this, I'm hoping Elvis is like that.

Yes i agree with you about the Ravens situation. I am not completely sold over the rumors that the Pats wont go after this guy because of the agent he has now. If he was willing to take a paycut to stay with the Broncos who is to say he might just accept less money to go back?

But he did take the paycut. The blunder from his agent is the reason why he got cut.

He'll probably end up in Denver. I hope he realizes the Ravens aren't really a contender with the terrible roster overturn. Apparently the Pats and this agent haven't dealt in years -- they really don't like each other.

But I dream he lands with us.

There was a report that he wanted to play for Miami, because he's from the area. I don't think winning a Superbowl this year is his number one prerequisite for signing with a team. But there's no question that Ruston would have to put in a heck of a pitch along with the best financial offer of all teams involved.

Ah, I see. Guess I didn't have my facts straight. If he's willing to take the cut how come the deal hasn't been done yet then? Do they no longer want him?

We're not gettin Dumerville....We don't have enough money to fork out, even if we do make a few cuts...
