SI has a ranking out of the top 25 power running backs of all time. And since it is the offseason and FA has not started yet we might as well have a look. A former Titan made the list at number 15. I am kinda annoyed that Mike Alstott was ranked one spot ahead of Eddie. But I am happy to see my boy Earl Campbell come in number 2.

In the top 25 all time for yards rushing (10,441), George averaged 341 carries during his eight seasons with the Oilers/Titans. He simply wore down defenses with his consistent touches.

    2. Earl Campbell

Now, Campbell is one of the poster boys for the rigors of an NFL career, struggling to walk as numerous injuries have ravaged his body. But during his playing days, the 230-pound back was an unrivaled physical specimen, a ball-carrier nearly impossible to bring down without multiple defenders.

Its cool, Eddie could juke you up sometimes, all Alstott ever did was run you over or punch your face. Eddie was by far a better all around player though.

If it were not for John Madden gushing over him Mike Alstott would not have been as highly regarded.

If you needed 1 yards, Alstott gave you 2. If you needed 3 yards, Alstott gave you 2.

I am a pretty big fan of Alsott, I would say he got the nod over Eddie simply because he was the last effective FB that could run the ball.

Not true, Mike Anderson the Broncos FB ran the hell out of the ball years after Alstot ran everyone over

and the thing with Alstot was, he knew defenders would take their eyes off him and look at the ground, then he would make a move and scamper down field for 60. Definitely one of the more fun guys to watch in the early 2000's

I am pretty sure he was a half back.

come on, but not like Alstott......we are talking about a more consistent runner.

I mean that team was built around Alstott, a FULLBACK. When has that ever happened before?

He stopped being a FB after a while though, he lined up as a HB later on.

Dunn would come out, Alstott would be the HB.

but thats also what Anderson eventually did in Denver, they switched him to HB

same thing going on over in Oakland right now with Marcel Reece
