AHHHHH THE SKY IS FALLING AHHHHH TOTALLY DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING

-Cook was unhappy here and wanted out, this is obvious. So him and his agent pushed for getting the WR tag. Titans aren't tagging Cook who would be making more than any other TE next year at 10.5 mil, that's idiotic.

-Just because Cook is gone doesn't mean we're just going to ignore the position. It's not set in stone Stevens or Thompson will be starting week 1. I rather sign a TE this year rather than early in the draft, there is no guarantee a rookie can come in and start and we'll have a true understanding of the position next off season (Thompson's progression).

If we're going to spend that much money on the TE position then try and bring in Pitta. Ravens just gave Flacco the biggest freaking contract ever and we can probably out bid the Ravens for him. Bennett is another TE who is pretty good and can actually block. Fred Davis and Dustin Keller are also intriguing possibilities.

I had no idea Pitta was a free agent, would love to have him in blue. Almost exactly what our young offense needs. A good blocking tight end with sure hands? Yes please.

Yeah Pitta is a RFA who is going to be 28 by kick off next year. Give him a 3 (maybe a team option for a 4th) year deal, keep developing Thompson, draft another TE mid rounds in a year or two, and we're fine for the present and future.

Would have to give up a 2nd round pick for him (assuming the Ravens tender him like everyone expects them to).

Might as well just draft one of the top tight ends in round 2 if you're willing to do that. They will be cheaper and will have much higher upside.

I don't see any way Pitta is an option.

I don't see this in any way that we are losing cook. They are going to let him test the market but he will not be offered anywhere near 10 million by any other team with his one dimensional style of play that he has shown us up to this point. And with our cap we will be able to give a better offer than anyone else out there, and it will save us a bunch under the assumption that he would've won the WR/TE battle.

Set to make 8.75m next year, wont take a paycut.. if he cost 8mil for us, that's stupid.
