Britt, Washington, Wright, Williams, Hawkins...that isn't a handful of good WR's? Also, what the hell does that have to do with this thread?

Apparently Titans fans have seen a bunch of Laron Landry games to know how bad he supposedly sucks...I know every time I've seen him play(maybe 5 or 6 times) he's been very Troy Polomalu-esque; flying around the field laying the hammer on people. Now, I haven't seen nearly enough of him to say whether he sucks or he's as good as Troy Polomalu(he's probably somewhere in the middle), but I do know having him could possibly help Griffin get back to where he was by letting Griffin worry about the pass more. It would also give us a playmaker that could put some fear in the opposing team(something our team lacks tremendously).

What I don't get is a bunch of Titans fans acting like they've seen every game of his and saying he's the worst cover safety in the NFL. Apparently they vote safeties who don't cover into the pro bowl now. Once again, some Titans fans confuse the hell outta me...

I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think Landry will be as highly paid as people are thinking(I also think he will upgrade our coverage over what Babs was doing). He only got a 1 year 3.5 million deal last year. He's still injury prone and he's a year older. Also, I do think a rookie safety would be better than what we have, but if we could sign a vet and get a 2nd/3rd round rookie it gives that rookie some time to learn while also being able to possibly replace Griffin sooner or later.

Trust me, if we can get William Moore or Dashon Goldson for a decent deal I'd rather have them, but I think Landry or even someone like Kenny Phillips or Louis Delmas will be much cheaper(while still being huge upgrades as long as they can stay healthy; that's where that early round safety will come into play as well though).

I think he's talking about doing that at the safety position.

Also not trying to derail the thread but it's becoming obvious Williams and Hawkins are career back ups, I'm not sure what they provide except depth. Washington is getting older, Britt can't stay out of trouble off the field and can't stay healthy on it, and Wright is a slot guy. So really, our WR core is crap.

Michael Griffin is a curious case. He was a monster in college and hit people like a train. Even when he first got in the NFL, he would tackle, great rookie season, top 3 safety the next year. Looks the part, good size at 6 ft and 200 pounds, cut up, very athletic and fast...then I've never seen anyone fall off like that.

You don't just lose all your skills overnight, honestly I think he just his passion for football along the way. Does anyone remember the video of him on draft night? He was sitting at home looking bored as f**k, and when his name was called, he didn't make move or make a single expression...didn't even fake smile, instead acted like he was about to fall asleep while all his family and friends were celebrating.

Well hes still the right size, has the right speed, and knows mostly what to do every play, but what seems to be holding him back is his attitude. For some reason he now cares about hurting people. He now holds back some so that theres no chance anyone gets hurt.

And the reason I say hes got our FO thinking he'll bounce back to old form is because there is no way of predicting the future. as weird as it may sound, he's just as likely to succeed as anybody next year based on his attributes and what's around him.

let's face it, it's going to take more than a free safety to make the Titans defense any good.
