Yeah I remember all of the "Giants done us a favor by not taking Morgan" posts on here after the draft.

I say draft Ricky Bobby if he can get to the quarterback and half-way stop the run

Ansah has potential but he's a project. Only teams that can splurge on a first round project would take him. Hes not much of a polished pass rusher, uses his athleticism to run stop and chase. We can't afford that. Datones jones is probably a late first, early second... Not a chance at 10.

I disagree if you think 2-3 years down the road the guy is gonna be JPP or Aldon Smith why not take him. There seem to be more raw pass rushers coming into the NFL and excelling when put in the right position which is the thing that scares me can our coaches utilize a guy like Ansah. It is a passing league a guy that can put his hand down and pressure the QB is more important now more than ever they can pin their ears back and just get up the field without having to worry about the run 2 out of every 3 plays.

We aren't going to compete for a SB next year so if he is a year away it really is moot point. I think Morgan is going to be steady on the one end but Wimbley is a one trick pony and his one trick isn't even that good. He would be expendable after a year under Ansah's belt.

2/3 years bro??? We need help tomorrow. Nuff said. A DT in the middle changes the D immediately. A real safety changes it immediately, a true number one Cb changes it... A 2/3 year project rotational DE however...does not.

Ill give you some backing for what I'm saying. I'm not being a dick, and I'm just spreading some knowledge.

The DT position needs a true 1 tech that can hold point of attack and consistently call double teams. Push the pocket. A DT that in general can't be stopped, only contained... Star does this for us. When he either breaks a double or pushed the center into the backfield, the qbs mechanics are screwed up, causing a quicker throw without being able to step up into the pocket...

Also when the QB can't step up, the DEs have a much better chance at getting to the QB from the edge. Out DEs were both top 10 in QB hurries... But didnt get those sacks. They arnt the problem. We had no pressure up the middle however.

When the pressure gets there fast, ball comes out sooner, CBs have a much better chance at being in position to cover... If the CBS are imposition better, they force the QB to hold the ball longer... DEs finally start racking up those sacks.

A project DE doesn't do this for us. The domino game is more important schematically.

No biggie I didn't take it that way. IMO Ansah is not a rotational DE and is a year away from being a dominant edge rusher that is what I like about him. We all have varying opinions just stating mine.

Don't get me wrong I'm on the Ansah bandwagon under a few stipulations. The biggest one is Star being available as he is the #1 guy I want come April and it is not even close. I'm worried he won't be there fingers crossed or maybe we trade up for him which would be perfectly fine with me. Star, Casey, and Martin would be awesome I think Casey's elbow was a big problem this year I think he takes a step forward this year after stagnating in year 2.

I tend to agree he is a solid DE in a year or so. If he was available in the second...I would be screaming for us to get him.

To the point in the OP, Datone Jones would be a very interesting pick. He is probably best suited as a LDE in a 4-3, where we have Morgan playing, but he would certainly be a better every-down DE than Wimbley.

He impressed me a heap at the Senior Bowl and we have had success with defensive guys from UCLA - Ayers and Verner.

Presuming we don't go DE in the 1st, I would be happy with Datone Jones in the 2nd.
