You just listed why the Oilers are not the Oilers now. If it comes to that we should rename ourselves the stupid franchise in TN on their way to LA.

First three maybe. Had more to do with the Astrodome and the lease with it.

Yea yea I know most of the politics involved in the Oilers move, but if they had actually put teams away by winning, no way the town lets them up and leave. There would have been more effort put in to keeping the Oilers.

I don't think Bud is cheap either. I believe that's a misnomer caused mainly by the Fisher years and his conservative, "blue collar" style. Fish was generally not willing to make a run at the big name FAs and IMO vastly overrated his ability to "coach up" mediocre players. So year after year fans had to watch as other teams scooped up guys that could've helped us greatly while our FO was content drafting projects, signing "solid" vets, and "coaching up" the guys we already had.

Also, I think losing Haynesworth put this "Bud is cheap" idea in a lot of people's heads. But look how that turned out. We look rather smart in hindsight.

And the worst part about the Oilers move. Never get to hear this at games anymore:

Signing a bunch of random pro Bowlers is overrated, I like what Green bay and Pittsburgh do. They'll sign 1 FA and let their draft picks develop.

Yeah I agree it's generally a good idea not to consistently overpay in FA. But Fishface definitely could've stood to be a little more aggressive than he was and roll the dice every now and then.

The difference with GB and Pitt is they tend to do a much better job at drafting and developing. Like I said, IMO Fisher overestimated his ability to "coach up" average to slightly-above-average guys. We've seen that same fault with Munch two years in a row now regarding the OL. I'm hoping he's finally learned his lesson though.

It seems like we either sign two " has beens" or three " never was" types.

In the rare case we do hire a good player, they either seem to get hurt, uninspired with no resemblance of past performances or the HC dont know how to use them correctly.

And the fact that about 10,000 was the average the last year in Houston. Was at the Houston Carolina game and it was SIT WHERE YOU WANT.
