Fair enough. He was really good as the Bills D coordinator.

I don't think it was all on him, but I don't know what his input is on our D personnel.

A lot is made out of the most points in franchise history given up, but it was also the highest point scoring season in NFL history last year. I don't see that changing given the rule changes that are pro-O.

You got it all wrong, GoT. That wasn't the DC though. It was all Griff. I'm sure if we just went 10 players on the feild and left him on the sideline we would have won most of those games and got in the playoffs. :sarcasm:

You can put aside the fact that our defense gave up the most points in franchise history (which is hard to sweep under the rug) , but that in no way negates the fact that we were still dead last in points allowed compared to the rest of the league. You can't just let something like that go. Someone is to blame for that, and I don't think it was Frank Bush. You can't just field a defense like that and put up the numbers that Gray did and get away with it with your job intact. I know we didn't have the best defensive personnel, but that's not the players fault. It's Gray, Munch, and Ruston's fault for not putting the right players on the field. Even if Gray had the ability to recognize our defensive needs and the talent to fill those needs, he would still suck. His schemes and play calling are horrendous. Our defense has the wrong mentality, or lack there of. Munch has not established an identity for the team. They have no plan or purpose. The players are just showing up to collect a paycheck.

Look at Seattle's defense. Their defense isnt full of Pro bowlers (well maybe now that they've been coached up). They know what they are doing out there. They have the exact right mentality. They went from being 27th in points allowed in 2010 to 1st in 2012. NONE of that would have happened without coaching changes.

I'm not saying that Gray is the worst defensive coordinator ever, but under Munch, Gray's coaching is fully visible. This team rides or dies by the coordinators, because Munch provides NOTHING to the team. He hasn't even done the first thing right, which is to establish an identity. He doesn't know what kind of offense he wants to run, or what kind of defense he wants to run. He couldn't call a game to save his life.

Gray sucked last year along with Palmer and Loggains, but no coordinator is going to be successful under Munch, outside of the actual good coordinators who would never coach under Munch anyway.
